The following arrests were reported by local law enforcement agencies for the past week. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty. Rather than the age of those arrested, only the year of birth will be indicated below due to law enforcement procedural changes.

Armed robber strikes north Fayette business

Officers are searching for the man who robbed the Quick Trip convenience store in north Fayette County at gunpoint just after midnight Wednesday.

Two Atlanta women arrested in holiday assault

Two Atlanta women were charged with assaulting two Fayetteville residents in their home Nov. 24. The two women had arrived at the residence with relatives to pick up a child who had been visiting her grandmother at the residence.

Joy R. Franklin, born in 1968, and Yolanda E. Franklin, born in 1987, both of Napoleon Drive, Atlanta, were charged with battery and cruelty to children, according to arrest reports. Yolanda Franklin was also charged with using harassing, disorderly or fighting words, reports said. Read More»

Armed robbers hit Fayetteville Flash Foods

Two men fled on foot after robbing the Flash Foods store in Fayetteville at gunpoint early Saturday morning.

Fayetteville Police spokesman Steve Crawshaw said the armed robbery occurred on Nov. 24 at approximately 6 a.m. when two men described as black males wearing hoodies and bandanas entered the Flash Foods store on North Glynn Street in Fayetteville.

One of the men brandished a firearm and demanded that the cashier open the cash drawer. The man subsequently grabbed the cash and both men fled the scene on foot, Crawshaw said. Read More»

Eighteen-year-old Peachtree City resident Gregory L. Hunt II was charged with reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident in a traffic crash that occurred Monday afternoon at the intersection of North Peachtree Parkway and Walt Banks Road. Read More»

Police arrest auto thief who led chase in S. PTC

A man who led sheriff’s deputies on a brief chase into south Peachtree City Oct. 29 and managed to get away on foot is now in custody.

Tony Perry, 36, faces multiple charges from not just Fayette County but also other jurisdictions, officials said.

Perry was located at an apartment complex in Clayton County by the U.S. Marshals Department Fugitive Task Force Friday, Nov. 16, but he hid inside, claiming he was armed. That led to a brief standoff and a call to the Clayton County Sheriff’s Department, which brought its SWAT unit to arrest Perry inside the apartment, officials said. Read More»

F’ville police offer some safety tips for holiday season

As local stores and shoppers gear up for the annual Christmas buying season, Fayetteville police are reminding shoppers to take extra precautions for the Grinchy criminals who prey on distracted victims.

Police recommend keeping a close eye on your purse, wallet and checkbook while you shop, and particularly to stay aware of your surroundings. Some thieves work in pairs with one distracting victims while the other steals items from the shopping cart, for example, police said. Read More»
