The alleged gunman in an Sept. 17 armed robbery at the Fayetteville Wal-Mart has turned himself in to Fayetteville police, officials said.

Tyrone cops on look-out for Sonic armed robbers

Tyrone Police are searching for three masked men who held up the Sonic Drive-in restaurant as the store was closing on Jan. 28. No one was injured in the armed robbery.

Tyrone Police Chief Brandon Perkins said the robbery occurred at closing time at approximately 11:30 p.m. Three masked men wearing hoodies and jeans entered the store from the rear of the property, he said. One of the men was carrying a handgun, Perkins said. Read More»

Gang member 'Big Boy' Lynch gets 17 years in F’ville gun store heist

Kissan Lynch, 25, of Jonesboro, Ga., was sentenced Friday by United States District Judge J. Owen Forrester on charges related to the theft of over 80 firearms stolen Dec. 5, 2007 from Autrey’s Armory, a federally licensed firearms dealer in Fayetteville. Jury convicted Fairburn man of 2 holdups: 1 at convenience store and the other at a Fayette home

A Fairburn man convicted of charges stemming from two armed robberies in Fayette County last November was sentenced to serve 35 years in prison by Superior Court Judge Fletcher Sams.

Sedrick Whatley, 20, was convicted of two counts of armed robbery, two counts of aggravated assault, one count each of kidnapping and burglary, two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and one count of financial transaction card theft. Read More»

Peachtree City police and a local business are hoping the offer of a $5,000 reward will help shake loose information to solve the ram-and-grab burglary of the PeachMac computer store at The Avenue shopping center Jan. 26.

The reward is offered for “information leading to the arrest and conviction of persons responsible” for the burglary, according to a police department news release.

Police also have released still photos taken from a surveillance camera which depict three young black men who “have been identified as persons of interest in this case,” police said. Read More»

Arrest made in north Fayette armed robbery, shooting

David Parnell, 41, is awaiting extradition to Fayette County on numerous charges including aggravated assault, armed robbery and burglary for a Jan. 10 incident at a north Fayette convenience store.

Fayette County Sheriff’s investigators today announced the arrest of an Alabama man who shot a north Fayette convenience store clerk during an armed robbery Jan. 10.

David Earl Parnell, 41, of Troy, Ala. was identified based on forensic evidence and video surveillance obtained at the BP located on Ga. Highway 138 near Ga. Highway 279, investigators said.

Parnell was arrested Thursday, Jan. 27 by the United States Marshalls Service in Huntsville, Ala. and he is currently in the Madison County (Ala.) jail awaiting extradition, officials said. Read More»

PTC girl cleared of gang charges forced to change schools

Eight female students from Booth Middle School and one from McIntosh High School in Peachtree City were arrested in December on gang-related charges. One of those girls, Gabby Santamorena, was later cleared of the charges, yet the 13 year-old is not being allowed to attend her school and has been transferred to another middle school by the Fayette County School System.
