The following arrests were reported by local law enforcement agencies for the past week. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.

Curt Benedict Bland, 47, of Barsi Point, Fayetteville, for simple battery.

Omar Gomez-Suarez, 29, of Quail Lane, Jonesboro, for DUI, DUI less safe, suspended license, open container and driving on roadways laned for traffic.

Tracy Michelle Lewis, 47, of Stevens Entry, Peachtree City, for deposit account fraud/bac checks. Read More»

PTC man arrested for fake cocaine, biting cop

A 19 year-old Peachtree City man was arrested April 9 on charges of committing two felonies and a misdemeanor after reportedly approaching several juveniles with fake cocaine then biting the officer attempting to take him into custody.

Corey McKoy, 19, of Peachtree City, was charged with sale of a counterfeit substance (felony), obstruction of an officer by injury (felony) and misdemeanor loitering. Read More»

Cops chase, catch F’ville man after week-long spree of 5 robberies

UPDATED PRINT VERSION April 12, 2011 — Fayetteville resident Anthony Craig Dobson, 47, is in the custody of Clayton County Police after he allegedly attempted to rob two Clayton businesses during the morning hours April 12. Warrant roundup nets nearly 3 dozen arrests

A warrant round-up March 28 initiated by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and in conjunction with the Fayetteville Police Department, Clayton County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals Service, resulted in the arrest of nearly three dozen people with outstanding warrants in six counties in metro Atlanta.

“That’s 38 with outstanding warrants who were supposed to be in jail and who are now in jail,” said Fayette County Sheriff Wayne Hannah. Read More»

Burglars hit Fayetteville Verizon store 2nd time in a month

The Verizon store on Promenade Parkway was burglarized twice in the month of March. Nothing was apparently stolen during the March 31 break-in while in the March 4 burglary a small number of iPhones were stolen.

Fayetteville Police were alerted to the March 31 break-in by an alarm call at approximately 10:30 p.m., said department spokesperson Mike Whitlow.

An unknown number of persons entered the building after breaking through a glass portion of the storefront, then attempted without success to enter the storage room, Whitlow said, adding that nothing appeared to have been stolen. Read More»

F'ville Rite-Aid hit by snatch-and-grab robber

Fayetteville Police are searching for a man in connection with an April 4 snatch-and-grab robbery at the Rite-Aid drug store on South Glynn Street.

Department spokesperson Mike Whitlow said the man, described as wearing a dark t-shirt and sunglasses and in his 40s, entered the store at approximately 8 p.m.

The man brought a candy bar to the cash register and grabbed an undisclosed amount of cash when the cashier opened the register.

The man then fled the scene, Whitlow said.

Update: A second robbery on April 7 has occurred in Fayetteville in a span of six hours. The first was at a florist on South Glynn Street at 10 a.m. The second was at the Rite-Aid pharmacy on Ga. Highway 54 West shortly after 4 p.m. Police believe both robberies were the work of the same man. Read More»

Fayetteville Police warn of new scam

The Fayetteville Police Department is warning residents to be aware of a scam that sounds legitimate but, in the end, cost a local man $17,000.

Det. Mike Whitlow in describing what happened said a Fayetteville man is out over $17,000 after responding to an online ad for employment. The ad promised $1,000 for two weeks worth of research for an online concierge service. Read More»
