PTC man charged with child molestation

A Peachtree City man was arrested Aug. 5 on charges of child molestation and sexual battery. The man is being held without bond and is potentially subject to deportation.

Alexander DeLeon-Escobar, 22, was arrested Aug. 5 at the conclusion of an investigation into allegations of child molestation, according to Peachtree City police spokeswoman Rosanna Dove.

“The investigation revealed that during the past two years, DeLeon-Escobar was residing with a family in Peachtree City and committed the offenses of child molestation and sexual battery,” Dove said.  Read More»

Burglars hit F'ville Toys R Us

Fayetteville Police are searching for at least two suspects responsible for the Aug. 4 burglary of the Toys R US store at the Fayette Pavilion in Fayetteville.

Fayetteville Police spokesman Mike Whitlow said officers received an alarm call from the business Thursday at 11:40 p.m. Officers arrived to find that access to the store had been made through an emergency access door on the side of the building, Whitlow said. Read More»

Business goes proactive after copper theft

Copper thefts are not uncommon anywhere these days. But the weekend theft of copper-laden cooling components at Score Indoor Sports off Ga. Highway 74 in Fairburn came with a word of advice from the company that might help prevent similar thefts at other businesses.

The theft occurred between 6:30 p.m. on July 31 and 8 a.m. the following day, said Score Indoor General Manager Ian Vanderkley. Help sought in 3 PTC apartment burglaries

The Peachtree City Police Department is investigating three daytime burglaries that happened between July 25-29 at the Camden Apartments.

In each case, the burglars gained access by kicking in the front door, police said. Items taken from the units included electronics and other miscellaneous property, police said.
