A Peachtree City man has been sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for making pornographic videos of his young daughter, niece and one of their friends.

Help sought in 3 PTC apartment burglaries

The Peachtree City Police Department is investigating three daytime burglaries that happened between July 25-29 at the Camden Apartments.

In each case, the burglars gained access by kicking in the front door, police said. Items taken from the units included electronics and other miscellaneous property, police said.

8 arrested in PTC alcohol sting

Eight people were issued citations in an undercover investigation Thursday after selling alcohol to an underage person, police said.

The incidents happened at seven of 26 establishments that were surveyed in a joint operation between Peachtree City Police and the Georgia Department of Revenue.

The establishments where citations were issued were Katie’s Liquor Store, Line Creek Liquor, the Wisdom Road Shell gas station, the Pit Stop gas station on Petrol Point, City Tap, El Ranchero at Braelinn Village and Chili’s Bar and Grill. Read More»

Location changed for PTC National Night Out

The location for Peachtree City’s National Night Out Tuesday has been changed to Drake Field, the open field area between the city library and Lake Peachtree.

The event, slated from 7 to 9 p.m., is part of a larger national anti-crime campaign. There will be a host of public safety equipment on display for the public to see, including fire department ladder trucks, helicopters, police vehicles, auto wreckers and more.

Also planned is a special event for the children, a public safety scavenger hunt that requires them to check in with various agencies that will be on hand. Read More»

Woman robbed at southside F’ville bank ATM

A woman depositing money in the ATM at Fayetteville’s South Glynn Street Chase Bank after dark July 25 was robbed at gunpoint by a lone assailant, police said.

Fayetteville Police spokesperson Debbie Chambers said the incident occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m. as a woman approached the ATM to make a monetary deposit.

The woman was in process of making the deposit when a man holding a handgun came up to her and demanded that she give him the money and leave the area, Chambers said.

Chambers said the robber was described as being either Hispanic or as a light-skinned black male. Read More»

Man arrested for fatal PTC crash

Peachtree City police have charged a Dawsonville man with second degree vehicular homicide relating to a crash in February that killed an East Point man.

Gene Lee Samples, 41, of Kilough Church Road was also charged with driving on the wrong side of the road and failure to maintain lane.

The Feb. 9 crash claimed the life of Thomas McGhee, 37, of East Point. The collision occurred shortly after 8 a.m. at the intersection of Ga. Highway 74 and Aberdeen Parkway.
McGhee was traveling south on Hwy. 74 at the time of the crash, and Samples was traveling north, police said. Read More»
