Second suspect arrested in north Fayette home invasion

A second suspect in an Aug 3. home invasion in north Fayette County has been arrested by Fayette County Sheriff’s investigators on multiple charges that included kidnapping, armed robbery and cruelty to children.

Sheriff’s spokesman Brent Rowan said Thursday that 20 year-old Thaddeus Deonte Fowler, of Clarkston, was arrested on Aug. 24 and charged with two counts of armed robbery, burglary, two counts of first degree cruelty to children, two counts of aggravated assault and two counts of kidnapping. 2 Newnan men arrested in Sharpsburg thefts

A rash of thefts from from vehicles in east Coweta County may have come to an end with the Aug. 19 arrest of two Newnan men charged with 17 counts of entering autos in the area of the Bedford Forrest subdivision off Ga. Highway 154 north of Sharpsburg.

Lionell Daniel, 26, and Jarvis Arnold, 24, both of Newnan, were charged with 17 counts of entering auto along with charges of felony theft by receiving and possession of a firearm by a felon, according to Maj. James Yarbrough of the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office. Read More»

Auto burglars got away with GPS units, loose change and other small electronics from parked vehicles in the Glenloch Village and eastern Lake Peachtree neighborhoods late last week, police said.

2 arrested in F’ville for air conditioning thefts

Fayetteville Police put a dent in the theft of air conditioners Aug. 19 with the arrest of two men involved in the theft of numerous stolen units.

Vernon Nelson, 48, of Atlanta and Ronald Hood, 30, of East Point, were each charged with four counts of theft by taking, according to department spokesman Steve Crawshaw.

Crawshaw said officers on Aug. 19 were conducting surveillance throughout the city when they observed a car drop someone off in the area of Braxton Court and the Magnolia Business Center. Read More»

Drug overdoses suspected in 2 deaths in PTC Tuesday

UPDATED 1:45 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 10 — Two young men found unresponsive at an Ardenlee subdivision home Tuesday morning may have died from drug overdoses, according to a Peachtree City Police news release Wednesday afternoon.

No foul play was involved in the deaths, according to Chief H.C. “Skip” Clark.

Fayette drivers seeing rash of catalytic converter thefts

18 vehicles stripped of underbody units for precious metals inside

The month of July saw a spike in the thefts of catalytic converters with 12 removed from vehicles in the unincorporated areas of Fayette County and another six thefts in Fayetteville. One of the thefts occurred while the victim was shopping in a grocery store.

Peachtree City figures were not available.

Fayette County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Brent Rowan said the spike in catalytic converter thefts during July resulted in the theft of 12 of the devices from six locations. Read More»

PTC man charged with child molestation

A Peachtree City man was arrested Aug. 5 on charges of child molestation and sexual battery. The man is being held without bond and is potentially subject to deportation.

Alexander DeLeon-Escobar, 22, was arrested Aug. 5 at the conclusion of an investigation into allegations of child molestation, according to Peachtree City police spokeswoman Rosanna Dove.

“The investigation revealed that during the past two years, DeLeon-Escobar was residing with a family in Peachtree City and committed the offenses of child molestation and sexual battery,” Dove said.  Read More»

Burglars hit F'ville Toys R Us

Fayetteville Police are searching for at least two suspects responsible for the Aug. 4 burglary of the Toys R US store at the Fayette Pavilion in Fayetteville.

Fayetteville Police spokesman Mike Whitlow said officers received an alarm call from the business Thursday at 11:40 p.m. Officers arrived to find that access to the store had been made through an emergency access door on the side of the building, Whitlow said. Read More»
