It was an arrest that led to a conviction and then, earlier this week, a prison sentence of nearly 27 years for 50 year-old former Grady Hospital Dr. Adam Wayne Lebowitz after being found guilty of child exploitation. And it all stemmed from a tip in 2006 from a 15 year-old east Coweta County woman and her son.

Lebowitz, of Decatur, was convicted in February on charges of producing child pornography and attempting to coerce and entice a child to engage in unlawful sex acts. He was sentenced Monday by U.S. District Judge Richard Story to 26 years and eight months in federal prison. Read More»

Peachtree City police and fire officials are investigating two recent early-morning vehicle fires that were intentionally set, officials said Tuesday afternoon.

The fires damaged vehicles that were parked in driveways of two homes: one in the Everhill subdivision and the other in the nearby Rockspray subdivision, police said. Read More»

Peachtree City has seen an uptick in entering auto cases in recent weeks and is asking motorists to remove valuables from their vehicles and always lock the vehicle when leaving it unattended whether at home or away.

Criminals have been targeting unlocked vehicles and those which have valuables inside in plain view, police said.

Citizens are being asked to be alert to suspicious persons waiting in parking lots and watching where motorists are hiding or placing their valuables, police said.
