F’ville DQ hit by burglar Monday morning

An early Monday morning burglary at the Dairy Queen on North Glynn Street in Fayetteville resulted in the theft of an undisclosed sum of money. Fayetteville Police have an arrest pending in the case.

Detective Jeff Harris Tuesday morning said the burglary occurred Monday morning at 4:30 a.m. Entry into the store was made after a rock was thrown through a door window on the north side of the building, Harris said.

Harris said the burglar, suspected to be acting alone, stole an undisclosed amount of cash. Harris said there was no other damage done to the building. Read More»

Big hike in PTC traffic citations, warnings

The number of vehicles pulled over by Peachtree City police officers has drastically increased between this year and last.

According to city records, the total number of pullovers has increased from 5,208 at this time last year to 9,482 this year. That’s an 89 percent increase.

Not surprisingly, the department is also issuing more citations than last year: 62 percent more. And while 4,993 citations have been issued this year the department has issued 6,371 warnings, a 100 percent increase. Read More»

F’ville man arrested on theft charge

Fayette County Sheriff’s investigators made an arrest August 5 in connection with a theft that took place on Evans Way in south Fayette County that occurred on July 25.

Investigators have arrested Daniel Ciconte, 21, of Fayetteville, and charged him with theft by taking, according to spokesman Brent Rowan.

This case involved Ciconte stealing jewelry from a residence on Evans Way without the victim’s permission, Rowan said. Investigators were able to recover some of the stolen jewelry and return it to the victim, he added.

TNT arrests two on trafficking charges

The Fayette County Sheriff's Office Tactical Narcotics Team (TNT) has concluded an investigation into marijuana trafficking that led to the arrest Aug. 4 of two men from Hapeville and Atlanta.

The incident Wednesday occurred in the parking lot of a Fayette County business, according to TNT Capt. Jody Thomas.

Thomas said two males met with a TNT agent acting in an undercover capacity. The two males, identified as Ebrahim Bangura, 25, of Atlanta, and Saddy Jawara, 40, of Hapeville, met with and sold approximately 5 pounds of marijuana to the undercover agent for $5,000. Read More»

2 teens attacked at Cobblestone Apartments in Fayetteville

Group of 10-12 kids approached each victim prior to incidents

Fayetteville Police are trying to identify suspects involved in two different altercations at Cobblestone Apartments Tuesday afternoon.

The first incident, shortly before 4 p.m., involved a group of 10-12 kids who were “hanging out” in the area and approached an 18-year-old male, police said. The male was asked a question and then punched and kicked.

The victim received minor injuries, police said. The incident occurred near the playground, police said. Read More»
