F’ville cops release sketch of carjacker in Dec. 21 incident

Fayetteville Police have released a sketch of the suspect connected with the Dec. 21 carjacking of two Fayetteville women visiting the Lafayette Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Brandywine Boulevard. The women were attacked in the parking lot and their car stolen.

Fayetteville Police spokesperson Debbie Chambers said the incident occurred at approximately 2 p.m. as the two sisters, one in her 60s and the other in her 80s, were in the nursing home parking lot. Read More»

Burglars steal cash from Ga. Power

A burglary at the Ga. Power store on South Glynn Street in Fayetteville during the early morning hours of Dec. 31 came after burglars broke through the wall of the adjacent Goodwill store and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Det. Mike Whitlow said Ga. Power employees contacted Fayetteville police about the break-in at 8:24 a.m. Monday after arriving at work.

Whitlow said several burglars entered the Goodwill store next door by forcing the front door open after trying unsuccessfully to gain entry to a vacant storefront on the opposite side of the Ga. Power office. Read More»

N. Fayette man assaults pregnant wife with 6 children present

A north Fayette County man was arrested Dec. 22 after a domestic incident with his pregnant wife and in the presence of their six underage children.

Stanley L. Savage, 54, was charged with battery, simple battery and six counts of cruelty to children, according to arrest reports. The Dec. 22 incident occurred at Savage’s Dix-Lee-On Drive residence off Ga. Highway 279 in north Fayette County, according to reports. Read More»

F’ville pharmacy robbed

A Dec. 26 robbery at the Rite-Aid store on North Glynn Street in Fayetteville occurred after a man presented a note to the pharmacy clerk demanding a certain type of drug.

The robbery occurred Dec. 26 at approximately 1 p.m. when a slightly heavy-set white male described as being 45-50 years of age and 5' 7" - 5' 9" in height and wearing black-rimmed glasses entered the store and proceeded to the pharmacy area, said Fayetteville Police spokesman Mike Whitlow. F’ville women faced attack, theft of vehicle during nursing home visit

It was a case of forced robbery Dec. 21 when two Fayetteville women visiting the Lafayette Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Brandywine Boulevard were attacked in the parking lot and had their car stolen.

Fayetteville Police spokesperson Debbie Chambers said the incident occurred at approximately 2 p.m. as the two sisters, one in her 60s and the other in her 80s, were in the nursing home parking lot.

A black male came out of an adjacent wooded area, pushed the woman in her 60s to the ground and stole the car belonging to the woman in her 80s, Chambers said. Read More»

Whitewater Middle receives hoax bomb threat

Whitewater Middle School was the subject of a bomb threat hoax Thursday after the Federal Burea of Investigation received a message that a teacher had planted a bomb in the school.

Principal Connie Baldwin in a Dec. 21 letter to parents explained how the hoax occurred and what resulted. Baldwin said she was notified Thursday by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office that a message had been sent to the FBI that one of the school’s teachers was going to bring a bomb to school on Friday set it to go off on Saturday. Cops probe pics of boy, 6, on sister’s phone

Fayetteville police are investigating an incident of possible child abuse that stemmed from a Dec. 14 call of a domestic disturbance at Piedmont Fayette Hospital. A conversation with the couple led to the discovery of inappropriate photos of their 6-year-old son found on the cell phone belonging to one of their daughters. Read More»
