Brown offers reward for damage to campaign truck parked in Braelinn

Fayette County Commissioner Steve Brown is offering a $500 reward to find out who damaged a fellow commissioner’s pickup truck decked out with Brown’s campaign sign that was parked in the Braelinn shopping center this past weekend.

Brown said someone scratched the truck down both sides, though police have told him surveillance video of the parking lot doesn’t show anything conclusive during the time in question. The incident occurred over the weekend when the truck was parked near the Kroger gas pumps, Brown said. Read More»

Deputies hold boy, 14, for stolen car, 3 burglaries in north Fayette area

A 14-year-old Fayette County juvenile is in custody after sheriff’s deputies found him hiding in the woods after attempting a break-in at a north Fayette residence.

Sheriff Barry Babb said deputies responded to a burglary in progress call at a Mercedes Trail residence at approximately 11 p.m. on April 28.

Babb said the resident called 911 after he heard someone trying to break into his home. Deputies arrived and set up a perimeter to search for the suspect, Babb said. Read More»

Alert Peachtree City residents helped police capture a suspect who bolted from a traffic stop late Monday morning, officials said.

The suspect, later identified as Dontevious Ferrell, 24, of Gay in Meriwether County, had been pulled over on Huddleston Drive but sped away and abandoned his vehicle soon after in a business park, attempting to escape on foot, police said. Read More»

South Fayette man charged with breaking family member’s ribs

A south Fayette County man was arrested April 16 after a family arrived at the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office to report an incident of family violence.

William K. McAbee, 50, was charged with aggravated battery, according to jail records.

Sheriff Barry Babb said deputies on April 16 received a complaint of family violence when a member of McAbee’s family came to the sheriff’s office to report that the relative’s ribs had been fractured in the attack by McAbee.

McAbee allegedly attacked his family member after an argument, Babb said. Read More»

A unique gun may be the key to solving the armed robbery of a gas station April 28 in north Fayette County.

Video from the incident at the Chevron located at Ga. Highway 92 and Rivers Road shows the masked gunman wielding a black powder revolver similar to a Remington 1858, according to sheriff’s detectives. The gunman dressed in a long-sleeve shirt and wore an Under Armor hat or mask with Nike brand shoes.

Sheriff’s detectives noted that the suspect appeared to be of a thin build and about 6 feet tall. Read More»

PTC seek KC man for identity theft

Peachtree City police have issued arrest warrants for this man, Brian Gordon, 40, of Kansas City, for multiple counts of identity theft. Anyone with information on Gordon's location is asked to call police at 770-487-8866 or use the department's anonymous web tips site at www.tipsubmit.com (select "Peachtree") or submit a tip on the department's Facebook or Twitter feed.

Peachtree City police have issued warrants for a Kansas City man for multiple counts of identity theft after he stole wallets from gym lockers and used credit cards minutes later.

Police said Brian Gordon, 40 used two credit cards for a $2,818 purchase at Best Buy in Newnan and also at the Newnan Chevron on Hampton Way for a $9.75 transaction. The fraud took place April 9 between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. after he stole the wallets from lockers at the World Gym at 680 Lexington Circle in Peachtree City, police said. Read More»
