7th man arrested in armed robberies in PTC, Tyrone

A seventh suspect has been arrested in connection with the Aug. 30 armed robbery at the Peachtree City Target and the Sept. 12 armed robberies of the Pit Stop convenience store in Peachtree City and the Sonic Drive-In in Tyrone.

Bradford J. Gibbs, Jr., 20, of Tom Bridges Road in Newnan, was arrested Sept. 26 on charges of armed robbery, aggravated assault and possession of a knife or firearm during the commission of a crime, according to information supplied by the Fayette County Jail. Read More»

The following arrests were reported by local law enforcement agencies for the past week, Sept. 13 through Sept. 19. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.

Ricardo A. Bellamy, 31, of Ga. Highway 85, Senoia, for driving with suspended license.

Kailyn D. Jones, 21, of Justin Court, Fayetteville, for DUI alcohol, Inst. Permits/Temp. License and improper equipment.

Arrests made in theft, fraud cases

Fayette County Sheriff’s investigators have arrested two men in connection with incidents involving theft by deception and identity fraud.

Sheriff’s spokesman Brent Rowan said investigators made an arrest on Sept. 14 in connection with a theft by deception case which occurred on Sept. 9. Arrested subsequent to the investigation was 46 year-old Ringo Starr Stevens, of Fayetteville, on charges of theft by deception.

Rowan said the case involved Stevens using deceit to deprive a victim of $150 at the Quick Trip convenience store on Ga. Highway 85 North. Read More»

Total of 6 in custody; 7th suspect being sought

Peachtree City police Thursday arrested two more local men in connection with the armed robberies of the Peachtree City Target Aug. 30 and the Pit Stop convenience store Sept. 12, officials said.

That brings the total number of suspects arrested to six, as police are still looking for a seventh suspect: Bradford J. Gibbs Jr., 20, of Tom Bridges Road, Newnan for one count each of armed robbery, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Read More»

Arrests made in PTC Target, Tyrone Sonic armed robberies

Four men from Peachtree City, Riverdale and Union City have been arrested in connection to recent armed robberies at the Target store and the Pit Stop convenience store in Peachtree City and the Sonic Drive-in in Tyrone.

Kyle Cornell, 22, of Harbor Loop, Peachtree City, was arrested on Sept. 21 on two counts of armed robbery; Jeramie Ruiz, 18, of Lexington Circle, Peachtree City, was arrested on one count of armed robbery, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime;

Demetrious Tucker, 22, of Sunrise Court, Union City, was arrested Sept. 21 on one count of armed robbery and obstruction; and Jimmy Nash, 20, of Garden Lake Drive, Riverdale, was arrested Sept. 21 on two counts of armed robbery, two counts of aggravated assault and Read More»

7 guilty in mobile home arsons for profit

Seven people entered guilty pleas last week in Fayette Superior Court on racketeering charges resulting from a scheme to burn newly-purchased mobile homes for insurance money.

Although one of the incidents happened in Fayette County at the Shiloh Mobile Home Park, several others occurred elsewhere in Georgia and in two other states, prosecutors said. The scheme involved the recruitment of single mothers who were used to purchase the mobile homes, which would then be insured for their contents prior to the fires, officials said. Read More»

UPDATED: Atl. woman sentenced to 35 years for 2010 home invasion

UPDATED for print Sept. 21,2011 — An Atlanta woman was convicted last week on 10 felony counts for participating in a violent home invasion in south Fayette County Dec. 3.

Michelle Perez of Chattahoochee Summit Road was sentenced to life in prison and must serve 35 years before serving the remainder of the sentence on probation. The sentence was issued by Fayette County Superior Court Judge Fletcher W. Sams. Read More»

Former Zaxby’s worker gets 2 years in robbery

A former employee of the north Zaxby’s store in Fayetteville has pled guilty to robbing the store back in 2007.

Erica Tiggs was sentenced last week to two years in prison followed by 13 years on probation along with a $4,000 fine. Tiggs also must pay restitution to Zaxby’s and also to State Farm Insurance.

Tiggs was arrested in December 2010 after a DNA sample tied her to the incident at the restaurant at Ga. Highway 85 North near the Fayette Pavilion, police said. Read More»

Former Pike school chief back in jail for porn

A former Zebulon man has been arrested for violating the conditions of his probation for attempting to arrange a sexual encounter with an undercover Peachtree City police officer whom he thought was 15 years old.

Earnest Darryl Dean, now 50, pled guilty in March 2006 to computer solicitation of a child and also obscene internet contact. He was sentenced to 10 years probation. Read More»
