Two robbers fired two shots at a couple walking in the Walmart parking lot about 12:40 this (Friday) morning after demanding the couple’s wallet and purse, Fayetteville Police Detective Mike Whitlow said.

Neither was struck by the bullets nor otherwise hurt, and the robbers escaped in a maroon SUV with customized wheel rims, police said.

Woman arrested for stealing prescription pad

A Hampton woman has been arrested by Fayette County sheriff’s investigators for stealing a sheet from a doctor’s prescription pad at a local doctor’s office, sheriff's officials have said.

Kristy Arline Donahue, 31, of Hampton, was arrested Sept. 16 and charged with theft by taking.

The incident was initially reported Aug. 30 and the subsequent investigation implicated Donahue, officials said.

Event focused on enhancing home safety, especially for homes with young children

Local residents are being asked to dispose of their expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs and over the counter medications in an effort to keep them out of the wrong hands.

And to make it easier, there will be two different locations in Fayette County where such medicine can be anonymously dropped off on Saturday, Sept. 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Peachtree City Police Department will be accepting such medications in an “Operation Pill Drop” roundup in the parking lot of the K-Mart in the Braelinn Village shopping center. Read More»

Locals victimized in separate forgery, theft, burglary cases

Fayette County Sheriff’s investigators have made three arrests this week in connection with three unrelated crimes.

Jacob Christopher Cotten, 19, of Longview, Tex. was arrested Sept. 7 in connection with a July 29 burglary of a locked storage building on Harp Road in south Fayette County. Cotten is accused of stealing two four-wheel ATVs, both of which were recovered and returned to the victim.

Cotten is charged with one count of burglary and two counts of theft by taking. Read More»

Deputies to take part in DUI crackdown

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office has announced that it will be participating in the statewide DUI crackdown over Labor Day weekend in an effort to deter impaired drivers.

Deputies will be joining their counterparts from the Peachtree City Police Department in focusing on DUI enforcement through the use of special patrols and checkpoints to identify drivers who are either impaired by drug use or having a blood alcohol content over the limit of .08.

5 indicted in 2 drug trafficking cases

A Fayette County grand jury has indicted three men for trafficking in methamphetamine after undercover drug agents found about three pounds of methamphetamine in a home in northwest Fayette County June 11.

Bernal Gerson Villafan and Uvaldo Alvarado Tequila, both of 385 Greenview Circle, Fayetteville where the incident took place and Ismael Guerrero Moya of Dade City, Fla., were charged with trafficking in methamphetamine. 5 indicted for S. Fayette heavy equipment chop shop

Five people have been indicted for participating in a heavy equipment chop shop that was discovered May 18 just outside of the town of Brooks in south Fayette County.

Ronald J. Martin and Shane D. Spino, both of 455 Morgan Mill Road, Brooks, Charles Allen Rippy Jr. of Todd Road, Greenville, Nathaniel B. Morris of Pine Street, Zebulon, and Nathan William Lunsford of Garner Road, Alvaton will face felony charges in connection with the case. Read More»

PTC woman arrested after stealing from clients

Peachtree City Police investigators on Aug. 27 arrested Robin Darleen White, 37, of Aberdeen Drive on with three counts of theft by receiving stolen property and two counts of financial identity fraud. The cleaning service operator is accused of stealing from her clients.

Police spokesperson Rosanna Dove said the charges stemed from an ongoing fraud investigation conducted by the Peachtree City Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division. Read More»
