James E. Devane, 34, of Ga. Highway 92, Fairburn, for bench warrant.

Devon R. Freeman, 24, of Thorne Hill Court, Hampton, for excessive tint, tire violation, wanted person and improper use of siren.

S’burg man arrested for road test wreck

A Sharpsburg man faced multiple charges earlier this week when he damaged a vehicle while conducting a road test after the car had new tires installed at a Peachtree City tire store.

Robert James Hammond, 22, was charged with reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to maintain lane, according to Maj. James Yarbrough with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office. Read More»

Arrests made in north Fayette burglary

Fayette County Sheriff’s deputies arrested three men Dec. 13 in connection with a residential burglary in unincorporated north Fayette County a day earlier.

George Kshawn Hampton, 18, of Fayetteville, was charged with burglary and identity fraud; D’Andre Davon Brown, 19, of Fairburn, was charged with burglary and two counts of identity fraud; and Levon William Alls, II, 18, of Atlanta, was charged him with possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, according to sheriff's spokesman Brent Rowan said. Gunman gets 30 years in prison; other defendant gets 40 years

Two men convicted of robbing two northeast Fayette kids at gunpoint Aug. 3 were sentenced to prison today by Fayette County Superior Court Judge Tommy R. Hankinson.

Newnan mom, daughters arrested in PTC Walmart purse theft

A Newnan woman and her three daughters were arrested Dec. 1 at the Peachtree City Walmart for snatching a purse in an unattended shopping cart.

Lechell Hendrix, 45, Rebekah Hendrix, 21, and 17-year-old Emily Hendrix, all of Greenville Street in Newnan, were charged with theft by taking, according to Peachtree City Police spokesperson Rosanna Dove. Also arrested on theft charges was another of Hendrix’s daughters, age 15, Dove added. Read More»

Video, print sealed case against robber who shot N. Fayette clerk

Minutes before David Earl Parnell shot a convenience store cashier Jan. 10 in north Fayette County, he posed as a customer: filing out lottery tickets and grabbing a cold bottle of Hawaiian Punch.

Parnell, an Alabama resident, probably didn’t plan for it all to be caught on the store’s surveillance video. And surely he didn’t plan to leave his fingerprint behind on the drink bottle.

But that’s how it went down, providing two key pieces of physical evidence behind the state’s case, according to Assistant District Attorney Jeremy Hayes.

Facebook used to ID home invaders

2 robbers will ‘check in’ for sentencing Dec. 15

It didn’t take long for sheriff’s detectives to identify a gunman and his accomplice from an Aug. 3 home invasion in northeast Fayette County.

Less than an hour after the incident, the victims were able to identify both suspects using their photos on Facebook.

And when Alexander Floyd Jr. was put under arrest at his Union City home hours later, he had one of the victim’s cellphones in his front pocket, police said. Read More»
