Thieves hit cars in 2 PTC subdivisions

Thieves have again preyed on unlocked cars in Peachtree City, police said.

In a strike on the Centennial and Fairfield neighborhoods, thieves got a handgun, small electronics, cash and a purse, police said. It is also believed that the same thieves stole two golf carts along the way, abandoning them later.

The incidents occurred sometime between 7 p.m. Monday night and 7 a.m. this morning, police said.

Police are urging residents to lock their vehicles, avoid leaving valuables inside their vehicles and also to secure golf carts with an anti-theft device. Read More»

Deputies make identity fraud arrest

Fayette County Sheriff’s Investigators made an arrest on Oct. 5 in connection with an identity theft case which occurred on May 19, 2011.

Investigators have arrested Jasmine Lee, 28, of Jonesboro and charged her with identity theft, according to sheriff’s spokesman Brent Rowan.

This case involved Lee fraudulently depositing a stolen check belonging to a Fayette County citizen into her JP Morgan Chase Bank account.

Hampton man charged with 8 counts of identity theft

Fayette County Sheriff’s Investigators made an arrest on Sept. 27 in connection with a identity theft case which occurred between December 2009 and March 2011, charging a Hampton man with eight counts.

Investigators have arrested Marcus Brown, 28, of Hampton and charged him with eight counts of identity theft, according to Fayette Sheriff’s spokesman Brent Rowan.

Rowan said the case involved Brown fraudulently using a family member’s social security number to purchase a new vehicle, obtain an apartment home and open several Wells Fargo bank accounts over a several year time period.

Residents’ email chalked up to miscommunication with officer

A Sept. 22 email based on an incident at the home of a Cardiff Park subdivision couple in Peachtree City has generated a flurry of other email activity around the city.

The incident pertaining to a woman entering the house supposedly to clean the residence and then leaving after speaking with the husband was reported to Peachtree City Police later that day. Officers subsequently received a copy of the email apparently sent by the residents and reviewed the statements from the portion of the email relating to whether current crime issues in the city were accurate. PTC peeper charged with public indecency

A Peachtree City man during the weekend period of Sept. 23-25 was charged with public indecency when he was identified as having fondled himself in front of a woman in a Peachtree City apartment complex.

Demeitre Mykel Winder, 23, of South Peachtree Parkway, was charged with public indecency and public intoxication, according to Peachtree City Police spokesperson Rosanna Dove. Read More»

7th man arrested in armed robberies in PTC, Tyrone

A seventh suspect has been arrested in connection with the Aug. 30 armed robbery at the Peachtree City Target and the Sept. 12 armed robberies of the Pit Stop convenience store in Peachtree City and the Sonic Drive-In in Tyrone.

Bradford J. Gibbs, Jr., 20, of Tom Bridges Road in Newnan, was arrested Sept. 26 on charges of armed robbery, aggravated assault and possession of a knife or firearm during the commission of a crime, according to information supplied by the Fayette County Jail. Read More»

Arrests made in theft, fraud cases

Fayette County Sheriff’s investigators have arrested two men in connection with incidents involving theft by deception and identity fraud.

Sheriff’s spokesman Brent Rowan said investigators made an arrest on Sept. 14 in connection with a theft by deception case which occurred on Sept. 9. Arrested subsequent to the investigation was 46 year-old Ringo Starr Stevens, of Fayetteville, on charges of theft by deception.

Rowan said the case involved Stevens using deceit to deprive a victim of $150 at the Quick Trip convenience store on Ga. Highway 85 North. Read More»
