Kids feared for their lives in home invasion

Defendants point finger at each other; 12 and 16-year-old testify about ordeal

A gun-toting burglar left a 16-year-old girl in tears as she feared for her life and the safety of her 12-year-old brother, a Fayette County jury was told Tuesday afternoon.

The brother recalled waking up Aug. 3 to the gunman “busting through” his bedroom door, and his sister crying, as the gunman threw a house phone downstairs and ordered him to pack up valuables from his room, all the while pointing a gun at both siblings.

Some of those valuables, including an Xbox video game system, were found hours later at one of the defendant’s homes, according to prosecutor David Younker. Read More»

Police want to question 2 in credit card fraud case

Peachtree City police are looking for two people possibly connected to a credit card fraud case, and they are asking the public to look for a newer model Chevy Traverse with a drive-out tag. Police ask anyone spotting this vehicle and these persons to report their whereabouts immediately by calling 911. Anyone with information on the case is asked to call police at 770-487-8866, 770-631-2510 or the city’s crime and narcotics information hotline at 770-487-6010.

Peachtree City police are looking for two people possibly connected to a credit card fraud case, and they are asking the public to look for a newer model Chevy Traverse with a drive-out tag.

The case involved a wallet stolen from a local restaurant Nov. 17, with the victim’s credit cards being used at “numerous businesses” in the Fayette and Coweta County area.

The persons of interest in the case were captured on video leaving a local store. One is described as a white female between 5’3” and 5’5”, approximately 115 pounds and between 25-35 years old. Read More»

Man shot in hand at close range, but witnesses aren’t talking, PTC cops say

Peachtree City Police aren’t getting much cooperation in the Thanksgiving Eve case of a shooting in Wynnmeade subdivision, so they are casting a wider net for information.

A 36-year-old Hispanic male was wounded in his hand Wednesday night about 11 p.m. at 404 Abbey Road but was released after treatment at Piedmont Fayette Hospital, police said.

Cops are looking for “a light-skinned, possible white male in his 20s, who was wearing a gray hoodie” as the shooter, police said. Read More»

Youth football coach arrested for assaulting PTC parent

Brooks Bears youth football assistant coach and Pike County resident Jack Neace was arrested Nov. 17 on charges of aggravated battery after the weekend assault on a parent of a Peachtree City player in the parking lot of Whitewater High School after the game had ended.

Luthersville man faces federal charges

A Luthersville man has been indicted on federal fraud charges after obtaining federal contracts reserved for service-disabled veterans. Sixty-two-year-old Arthur Wayne Singleton was arraigned before U.S. Magistrate Judge Russell G. Vineyard in the Nov. 10 proceeding in connection to 14 counts of wire fraud and one count of major fraud against the United States. Read More»

Peachtree City man arrested for possession of child porn

Peachtree City resident David Gordon Moll, 56, of Rockspray Ridge, was charged Tuesday with one count of sexual exploitation of children after law enforcement agents found kiddie porn on his computer, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Moll turned himself in to the Fayette County Jail the same day, the GBI said.

PTC cops looking for man trying to pick up kids

Peachtree City Police are asking for the community’s help in locating a person of interest in connection with a man that reportedly asked two juveniles to get in his vehicle.

Department spokesman Mark Brown said that on Nov. 10 two juveniles reported that they were waiting at the bus stop at the intersection of Wynnmeade Parkway and Tower Road when a person stopped at the stop sign next to them and asked them to “get in the car.”

Brown said the juveniles ignored the person’s request but added that the following day the same person stopped at the same stop sign. Read More»
