PTC purse snatcher nabbed by cops

A Peachtree City woman was arrested Feb. 1 on charges stemming from a purse snatching incident at the Publix grocery store on Ga. Highway 54 just outside the city limits.

Fayette County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Brent Rowan said investigators on Feb. 1 arrested Kieatha M. Neal, 25, in connection with a theft case at the Publix store on Jan. 25. Neal was charged with theft by taking and four counts of financial transaction card theft, Rowan said. Read More»

High speed chase in Senoia ends in Brooks crash

A high speed chase that began in Senoia and ended in south Fayette County during the nighttime hours Jan. 24 resulted in the arrest of a Fayetteville man after he crashed his vehicle into a tree in Brooks.

Brandon Ferguson, 21, was charged with defective equipment, fleeing and attempting to elude, driving while license suspended and reckless driving, according to Senoia Police Capt. Steve Tomlin. Read More»

Feds say Fayette murder suspect was in U.S. illegally

A Fayette County man accused of fatally stabbing his wife in front of their three young children on Jan. 20 was here illegally, according to the federal immigration officials.

Jesus Ojeda Jimenez, 34, was deported to Mexico in April 2010, two months after he pled guilty to striking Liliana Ruiz, 30, multiple times in an assault Nov. 14, 2009 that left her with a number of bruises and abrasions all over her body, a swollen eye and a bloody nose, according to the sheriff’s incident report. Conyers woman to be charged in ID theft

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office has obtained a warrant for a Conyers woman being charged with identity fraud.

Aisha Dismuke, 34, is being charged with one count of identity fraud, according to sheriff’s spokesman Brent Rowan.

Rowan said the case involved Dismuke fraudulently using a Fayette County citizen’s credit card number to pay her utility bill.

Burglars hit 3 F’ville locations

Burglars hit two businesses and one residence in Fayetteville as the weekend ended. Discovered Jan. 23, thieves hit a business on South Glynn Street, another at Togwatee Village on Ga. Highway 54 and a residence off South Jeff Davis Drive.

One of the Jan. 23 burglaries occurred at Tutti Frutti Frozen Yogurt in the 800 block of South Glynn Street. Fayetteville Police spokesperson Steve Crawshaw said an officer patrolling the area at approximately 4:30 a.m. observed that the store’s front door had been broken in. Read More»

Mobile home park murder suspect had battered wife before

When Jesus Ojeda Jimenez stabbed his wife to death Friday night at their home in the Landmark Mobile Home Park, he did so in front of the couple’s three children, one of whom called 911 to summon help for his mom, The Citizen has confirmed with authorities.

Fayette County sheriff’s deputies arriving on the scene just before 8 p.m. found Jimenez’s wife, Liliana Ruiz, dead. Jimenez, 34, fled the area but turned himself in at the Fayette County Jail Saturday at the urging of his family, and he was cooperating with the investigation, sheriff’s officials said.

F’ville man arrested after burglary attempt

A Fayetteville man was arrested Jan. 17 after attempting to break into a storage trailer on Ga. Highway 54 West.

Fayette County Sheriff’s spokesman Brent Rowan said Michael Sean Smith, 18, was arrested Tuesday and charged with criminal attempt to commit burglary.

Rowan said Smith attempted to break into a storage trailer behind the Smith and Davis Clothing store in Hwy. 54 near Tyrone Road. Smith fled the location when the security alarm on the trailer was activated.
