Man gets 5 years in prison for stealing, using credit card

Other defendant sentenced to five years for selling cocaine to undercover officer

A Peachtree City man pled guilty Tuesday to five counts of financial identity fraud for using a stolen credit card five times, including one purchase of a flat screen TV, in June 2011.

Garry W. Parker, 49, was sentenced to five years in prison followed by five years probation by Fayette County Superior Court Judge Christopher C. Edwards. Parker must also pay a $2,000 fine and $1,496 in restitution.

Parker admitted to taking the card from the victim while he was working to move her belongings from a home to a storage unit while he was employed at A Better Way Ministries. Read More»

Armed robbery on south PTC cart path Saturday night

Peachtree City police have issued a lookout for two armed robbers who held up an unspecified number of people Saturday night on the golf cart path near Concord Village Apartments in Braelinn Village.

“The victims indicated they were approached by two men each displaying a handgun,” said Public Information Officer Rosanna Dove. “The suspects told the victims to relinquish their personal property and the key to their golf cart.”

The robbers fled on foot toward Braelinn Village Shopping Center, Dove said.

Stacie D. Hawkins, 24, of Woodward Drive, Saginaw, Mich., for tail light violation and driving on wrong side of road.

PTC cops investigate graffiti cases

There have been 22 cases of graffiti identified by police across a large area of Peachtree City since the beginning of the year. The graffiti has shown up on signs and various structures and has taken the form of a wide range of “artwork.” Police investigators are reviewing the cases to determine if there is any connection between them.

Area man pleads to meth charge

Suspect brought portable meth lab to PTC Walmart

A Newnan man pled guilty Monday to criminal charges stemming from his Aug. 2 arrest at the Peachtree City Walmart with a portable meth lab in his backpack.

Steve McLeroy, 40, was sentenced to three years in prison followed by seven years probation by Fayette County Superior Court Judge Fletcher Sams.

McLeroy was also fined $1,500 and ordered to undergo a drug abuse evaluation and follow all of the subsequent recommendations.

Sams asked McLeroy if the methamphetamine he manufactured was for sale or for his personal use. He told the court it was only for his use. Read More»

Drug squad arrests 4 for selling drugs here

Four people have been arrested for three separate incidents involving illegal drug sales to undercover sheriff’s deputies in recent weeks, officials said.

Ryne M. Fulton, 27, of Senoia was arrested Feb. 16 after he exchanged oxycodone pills with an undercover investigator from the Tactical Narcotics Team, sheriff’s officials said. The incident occurred in north Fayette County, and Fulton was also found to be in possession of Xanax pills as well, officials said. Read More»

Deputies arrest 2 for separate burglaries

Fayette County sheriff’s investigators have arrested two men for two separate burglaries on different ends of the county.

Lucas W. Baucom, 18, of Griffin was arrested Feb. 24 for entering a garage on Carrington Lane in south Fayette County with the intent of stealing some items, and also for taking property from a second residence on Carrington Lane, officials said. Baucom is charged with burglary and theft by taking for the incidents which occurred between Dec. 17-23, officials said. Read More»
