Senoia fugitive nabbed in multi-county effort

‘Check out my YouTube Page’ – cops did, found online pics of 33 marijuana plants in man's house

A Peachtree City man was arrested on felony marijuana charges June 13 after he invited an officer to “check out his YouTube channel” which showed a marijuana-growing operation at his residence that contained 33 marijuana plants.

Zachary A. Peak, 29, of Paddock Trail in Glenloch Village, was charged with manufacturing, distribution and possession of marijuana, possession of drug-related objects and indecent exposure, according to police and jail records. Read More»

3 arrested in Fayette chase

A June 13 car chase along Ga. Highway 54 in Fayetteville and into central Fayette County followed by a chase on foot by sheriff’s deputies and Tyrone officers led to the arrest of three men on multiple charges.

Sheriff Barry Babb said deputies on June 13 conducted a traffic stop on Hwy. 54 in Fayetteville near Sharon Drive. He said the driver of the vehicle pulled into the parking lot of the AutoZone store then fled from the officer by quickly returning to Hwy. 54 and running the light at Gingercake Road. Drop-in Kroger burglary suspect turns himself in to police

The man who burglarized the Kroger pharmacy at 805 South Glynn Street in Fayetteville on June 8 surrendered to police after family members saw his photo in newsaccounts and suggested he turn himself in.

Justin Blake Moody, 21, of Fayetteville, voluntarily surrendered to Fayetteville investigators at noon on June 11, said Det. Mike Whitlow. Moody was charged with one count of burglary for breaking into the Kroger pharmacy at approximately 9 p.m. on June 8, Whitlow said. Read More»

Train hits car stuck on PTC tracks

A motorist narrowly averted disaster early this morning in a failed attempt to cross railroad tracks that were under repair, police said.

The driver was running late for work and disregarded three “road closed” signs before reaching the tracks at Paschall Road, police said. Because the road had been cut for maintenance, the car fell off the roadway.

“The driver called for a wrecker but a train arrived first and a collision occurred,” according to the police department’s Facebook page.

The train received minimal damage, but the driver was issued a citation. Read More»

A motorist driving on Ga. Highway 138 in Fayette County near midnight on June 9 had her vehicle damaged when gunshots were exchanged between two vehicles speeding past her.

Sheriff Barry Babb said deputies at approximately 12:45 a.m. responded to a gas station at Hwy. 138 and Ga. Highway 314. They were met by a female motorist who said she and her son had been traveling eastbound on Hwy. 138 when her vehicle was shot by another moving vehicle, Babb said. Read More»

Kroger 'drop-in' burglar in custody

Suspect turns self in after photos published

Security camera photos published by the news media have led to the capture of a young Fayetteville man accused of sneaking into the pharmacy at the south Kroger in Fayetteville on June 8, police said.

Justin Blake Moody, 21, was arrested at noon today and is charged with one count of burglary, and police said he was “encouraged by family members to surrender” after his photo was published in the news Tuesday.
