F’ville man, 21, charged with rape, sodomy of Riverdale woman, 19

A Fayetteville man has been charged with rape and aggravated sodomy in a Jan. 20 incident involving a 19-year-old Riverdale woman.

Herminio Gutierrez, 21, of Booker Avenue, was charged with rape, aggravated sodomy, making terroristic threats and acts and misdemeanor battery, according to Fayetteville Det. Mike Whitlow.

Whitlow said the incident occurred in the early morning hours of Jan. 20 after Gutierrez and the woman returned from a date in Atlanta and went to his residence.

ID thieves stole customer info, counterfeited personal checks

A Fairburn woman and a Jonesboro man have been charged on multiple counts of financial identity theft involving Fayette County victims.

Catraya Vogt, 29, of Fairburn, was charged with 15 counts of identity theft. Her accomplice, 28-year-old Douglas Allen, of Jonesboro, was also charged with 15 counts of identity theft, according to Sheriff Barry Babb.

Babb said between November 2012 and January 2014, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office investigated over 30 identity theft transactions with a similar modus operandi. Read More»

Chase ends in arrest of Molena man, 24

A Molena man was arrested Jan. 27 after a car chase in north Fayette and Fulton counties.

Twenty-four-year-old Thomas Moore was charged with DUI and driving on a suspended license, according to Sheriff Barry Babb.

Babb said deputies in the early morning hours of Jan. 27 conducted a traffic stop near the Fayette County and Fulton County border. Read More»

Jan. 8 wreck brings drug arrest

A Jan. 8 traffic collision in north Fayette County resulted in more than injuries to one of the motorists involved. Officers at the scene found a quantity of Xanax and more than four pounds of marijuana in his vehicle.

Sheriff Barry Babb said 20-year-old Fayetteville resident Michael Lamar Clark was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of Xanax with intent to distribute. Coweta wrecker man charged with shooting mechanic in foot

A Coweta County man has been charged with aggravated assault after shooting a man in the ankle in a dispute over a car repair.

Fayette County Sheriff Barry Babb said 47-year-old David Sharp was charged with aggravated assault in the Jan. 12 incident.

The incident occurred after Sharp, a tow truck driver, met with a car mechanic at a business located on Ga. Highway 85 North. The mechanic was the individual who would be working on the vehicle, Babb added. Read More»

Deputies charge Fayette man with multiple felonies in spat with wife

A Fayette County man faces multiple charges stemming from a Jan. 9 domestic incident and the burglary of a nearby residence.

Nicholas Manley, 26, of Deer Forest Trail in east Fayette County, was charged with aggravated assault, kidnapping, false imprisonment, battery, terroristic acts and threats, two counts of burglary, criminal trespass and cruelty to children, according to arrest records. Read More»
