Fayetteville carjacking suspect arrested.

Fayetteville Police investigators on Wednesday afternoon arrested a Fairburn man that had been sought in connection with the Dec. 21 carjacking of two women in the parking lot of the Kindred Nursing Home in Fayetteville.

Det. Mike Whitlow said 26-year-old Charles Frank Collier, Jr. was arrested Wednesday afternoon on charges of one count of robbery by intimidation, one count of battery, two counts of simple assault and one count of theft of a motor vehicle. Read More»

2 nabbed for 3 PTC auto break-ins

Two people were arrested Friday after breaking into three cars at the parking lots of two different Peachtree City restaurants, police said.

The first incident happened at Outback where the thieves smashed a vehicle window and stole an iPhone, an iPad, a viola, a cheerleading bag, a jacket and a purse.

Within half an hour of the incident being reported to police, the suspects were found in the parking lot of the Star Lite Skating Rink in Newnan where they were arrested, police said. Read More»

$2,500 reward offered for damaged PTC water fountains

A number of water fountains on Peachtree City’s cart path system have been damaged recently and police are hoping a sizable reward will lead to the perpetrator(s) arrest.

A $2,500 bounty has been placed for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the damage. The water fountains in the Huddleston Pond area were intentionally damaged along with various other locations in the city, police have said. Read More»

Burglars hit F’ville pharmacy Jan. 21

An undetermined amount of medication was stolen from a pharmacy on North Glynn Street in Fayetteville in an early morning break-in on Jan. 21.

Fayetteville Police Det. Mike Whitlow said officers received an alarm call for Jones Pharmacy on Jan. 21 at approximately 4:45 a.m. Officers responding to the scene found the window in the drive-thru area broken out, Whitlow said.

The department’s K-9 unit was called to the scene, Whitlow said, adding that the dog led officers to a nearby parking lot where a car was apparently waiting. Read More»

Dollar is done; assault charge dropped

Megachurch pastor Creflo Dollar managed to avoid a court appearance on charges that he assaulted his 15-year-old daughter in the family’s Sandy Creek Road home June 7.

Instead, state court prosecutors allowed Dollar to enter a pre-trial intervention program which required him to complete an anger management program and pay $1,072 in fees and court costs. Read More»

Runaway PTC girl found, returned to parents

Peachtree City police are seeking the public's help in locating a 14-year-old girl who ran away from her residence at the Balmoral Village apartment complex two days ago. Anyone with information on Paul's whereabouts is asked to call the police department at 770-487-8866 or 770-487-6010.

UPDATED Monday at 5:12 p.m.

Peachtree City police have found a juvenile reported missing last week. Vision Bacari Paul was found staying at a friend's house and has since been returned to her parents, police said.

4 indicted for phony pain clinic

Tyrone location was one of 3 in metro area; owner, docs face federal charges

The August raid on a pain clinic in Tyrone, along with several other locations in the metro Atlanta area, has resulted in four people being indicted on federal drug and money laundering charges, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Atlanta.

The probe of the AMARC clinic began in 2009 when the federal Drug Enforcement Administration learned that AMARC physicians “prescribed pain pills outside the bounds of legitimate medical practice,” prosecutors said. Read More»
