Security service finds bullet hole in its front door

A single shot was fired through the door of a Fayetteville security service over the weekend. No one was in the building at the time of the incident.

Fayetteville Police spokesman Steve Crawshaw said officers received a complaint of a gunshot late Friday night in the area of Washington Street in central Fayetteville. Officers responded to the scene but found no evidence of a disturbance. Read More»

2 Coweta teens cuffed for Fayette burglary case

Two teenage males from Coweta County were arrested Aug. 22 in connection with the recent burglary of a Fayette County residence.

Hunter Kirbow, 18, and a 16-year-old male, both from Coweta County, were charged with first degree burglary and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, according to Fayette County Sheriff Barry Babb.

Babb said residents of the home on Davis Road in central Fayette were not at home when the Aug. 12 burglary occurred. Read More»

Fayette attorney's hard drive erasure case thrown out

A special prosecutor has cleared former Fayette County Attorney Scott Bennett of charges that he illegally wiped information from the hard drives of two county-issued computers he used.

Charles A. Spahos, appointed as a temporary solicitor to investigate the case, entered a dismissal of the case Aug. 16, saying there was no evidence a theft had occurred as alleged. Read More»

Newnan man charged with Senoia rape of PTC woman

Benjamin Gray, 28, of Newnan in a police mug shot.

A Newnan man was arrested Aug. 18 on charges of raping a Peachtree City woman at a Senoia residence earlier that day.

Benjamin Gray, 28, was charged with rape, according to Senoia Police Det. Jason Ercole.

Ercole said Senoia officers at 3:16 a.m. on Aug. 18 responded to the FlashFoods convenience store located on Ga. Highway 16 in reference to a reported rape. The 27-year-old female victim told officers that she had been raped while attending a gathering at a residence in Senoia. The victim identified Gray as the suspect. PTC cracking down on drunk driving

Peachtree City police have announced they will be participating in a drunk driving crackdown from Aug. 16-Sept. 2.

During the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign, officers “will be aggrssively looking for drunk drivers on the cart paths and on the roadways ... and will arrest anyone caught driving drunk.”

The department will also operate a series of sobriety checkpoints to identify impaired drivers during the campaign, police said. Read More»

Historic rock recovered, relocated

The small boulder with an inscribed petroglyph stolen last week from the Line Creek Nature Area in Peachtree City and thought to be hundreds of years old has been returned.

“Just one week after its disappearance, a Native American trail marker has been returned to Line Creek Nature Area in Peachtree City,” said Southern Conservation Trust Executive Director Pam Young. “The small boulder with a sun engraving was discovered by a volunteer near its original location on Thursday afternoon.” Read More»

Wrestler’s granddaughter arrested for pounding man in her driveway

The granddaughter of a famous professional wrestler has been charged with battery and robbery in the Aug. 3 beating of a family acquaintance in her driveway in Fayetteville that caused the male victim to suffer a facial fracture.

Brooke Orndorff, 25, of Pamela Court, was charged with robbery and battery, said Sheriff Barry Babb. She is the granddaughter of World Wrestling Federation Hall of Fame member and Fayetteville resident Paul Orndorff Jr., known in the pro ranks for years as “Mr. Wonderful.” Read More»
