The following arrests were reported by local law enforcement agencies for the past week. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.

Linda D. Gouch-Davis, 58, of Smithstone Path, Fayetteville, for bench warrant and obstruction.

Palmer W. Grim, 18, of Green Meadow Lane, Fayetteville, for less than an ounce of marijuana.

Senoia cops nab man after high-speed chase

It began as an attempt by a Senoia officer to stop a speeding vehicle. But by the time the Aug. 10 incident was over it had turned into a high-speed pursuit of a stolen vehicle, a brief manhunt and the apprehension of a 22 year-old Gay resident on multiple charges.

Curtis B. Hall was charged with theft by receiving stolen property, fleeing and attempting to elude, reckless driving, speeding and driving while unlicensed, according to Senoia Police Maj. Steve Tomlin. Read More»

Copeland fighting unsettled DUI charge

The Aug. 21 runoff election between attorney Ronnie Mabra and Fulton County school teacher T.J. Copeland will decide the winner of the new Dist. 63 seat in the state House. But surfacing just days before the election is the report of a 2010 incident in Atlanta that remains unsettled, one where Copeland was charged with a DUI and other misdemeanor offenses. For his part, Copeland said he is fighting the charges that are being transferred from Atlanta Municpal Court to Fulton County State Court. Read More»

UPDATED for print, 08-15-12 — Sheriff’s investigators are continuing to work leads and analyze evidence relating to the Friday morning murder of a 44-year-old disabled Fayette woman at her grandmother’s home north of Tyrone and close to the Fulton County line.

Donna Denise Roberts, 44, was shot to death by a burglar who was discovered in the home when Roberts and her 78-year-old grandmother returned from running errands, officials said. The shot was fired as the suspect’s silver or gray passenger car fled the scene, officials said. Read More»

10 charged in PTC for minor in possession of alcohol

It was supposed to be a gathering to say good-bye to a friend, but when Peachtree City Police received a call about a burglary in progress the gathering ended with charges of minors in possession of alcohol.

Peachtree City Police spokesperson Rosanna Dove said the incident occurred on Aug. 3 when officers responded to a report of a burglary in progress on Laddington Lane. Taking the necessary precautions, officers positioned themselves around the house. Read More»

Man, 22, killed by deputy, called 9-1-1 threatening hostage

UPDATED Monday, Aug. 6, 11:30 a.m. — The man who was shot to death by a Fayette County sheriff's deputy after holding a friend hostage at knifepoint early Saturday morning has been identified as Joseph Evitts, 22, of 207 Buckeye Road,

Gunshot victim arrested after making false claims

A Hampton man was arrested by Fayetteville Police Wednesday afternoon after making false claims of having received a gunshot wound in Fayetteville. Officers investigating the incident determined that the gunshot wound to the man’s leg occurred in Clayton County and that he had come to Fayette County for treatment of the wound.

Fayetteville Det. Mike Whitlow said 24 year-old Kevin Colley, of Hampton, was arrested after making a number of false statements related to the gunshot injury to his thigh. Read More»
