The following arrests were reported by local law enforcement agencies for the past week. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty. Rather than indicating the age of those arrested, only the year of birth will be noted below due to law enforcement procedural changes.

3 arrested after PTC car break-ins and chase into Coweta

UPDATED for print 12-07-13 — The pursuit of three Florida men in connection to car break-ins Wednesday morning at New Hope Baptist Church South on Ga. Highway 74 near Ga. Senoia teen arrested for kidnapping, child molestation

An 18-year-old Senoia man was arrested Dec. 3 on charges of child molestation, kidnapping and false imprisonment after he forced a juvenile into his home. Police were alerted by the man’s father when he arrived home from work and intervened.

Terry Lee Sherman was charged with kidnapping, child molestation and false imprisonment, according to Senoia Det. Jason Ercole.

Ercole said Senoia officers responded to Sherman’s residence on Dec. 3 at approximately 3:09 p.m. after receiving a call about a possible sexual assault involving a juvenile.  Read More»

Sheriff: Florida thieves may be connected to local entering auto cases

Two Florida men arrested recently in Alabama on entering auto charges are believed to be connected to other vehicle break-ins in Peachtree City.

Thirty-seven-year-old Oscar Moses Badger, of Dania Beach, Fla., and Bobby Hanna, 24, of Plantation, Fla., were arrested recently in Pelham, Alabama on entering auto charges, according to media reports. Read More»

Robber escapes after holding up Applebee’s manager

The manager of the Applebee’s restaurant in Fayetteville was unharmed after being robbed at gunpoint early Sunday morning before opening time.

Det. Mike Whitlow said the Applebee’s manager was the only person in the restaurant when the robbery occurred. The manager opened the store’s rear door used by employees at 8:15 a.m. after the door’s buzzer sounded, Whitlow said.

“He opened the door and two black males barged in,” Whitlow said. “One of them was armed with a silver handgun.” Read More»

3 robbers thwarted when man says, ‘No,’ walks off, flags down cop

An attempted armed robbery Sunday night at the Fayette Pavilion by teenagers from Riverdale did not go the way they planned.

The man they approached at gunpoint said, “No,” refused to give up his vehicle and walked back toward the Kohl’s department store.

The flummoxed would-be robbers were caught a short time later after a Fayetteville cop patrolling the Pavilion alerted other officers. Read More»

Five defendants convicted of serious crimes in Fayette County deserve new trials because the presiding judge should have recused himself due to an extramarital affair he had with their defense attorney, the Georgia Court of Appeals has determined.

Victim reports ‘bank’ phone scam

There seems to be an endless number of scams designed to take a person’s money. Yet another scam, this time using a cell phone alert, has the caller pretending to be a bank notifying a customer that the credit card account has been frozen.

A Peachtree City woman last week contacted The Citizen to report that she received an alert on her cell phone notifying her that her Bank of America credit card account had been frozen. The message recommended that she call the number provided in the alert to take care of the problem. Read More»
