Man pleads guilty to PTC. apt. shooting

A Newnan man pled guilty last week to shooting a Peachtree City man at the Camden Apartments off MacDuff Parkway last June.

Joel Alan Chambers was sentenced by Fayette County Superior Court Judge Fletcher Sams to three years in prison followed by 17 years on probation.

Chambers, 49, of Medallion Park in Newnan was arrested June 23, 2013 after getting into an argument with Robert Lee Thompson Jr. and shooting him in the chest, police said. Read More»

Pot deal goes bad; 1 man dead, 1 charged with murder

An altercation over what appeared to be a Sept. 14 drug transaction in north Fayette County resulted in the shooting death of an Atlanta man by a 25-year-old Union City man who has been charged with felony murder, law officers said.

Kevin Jemario Pope, 25, of Union City, was charged with felony murder, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to Sheriff Barry Babb. Read More»

Senoia man arrested for assault after pulling gun at PTC residence

A Senoia man was arrested Sept. 7 and charged with multiple counts in connection to an altercation at a Peachtree City residence that occurred on the previous evening.

Jorge Fernando Gonzalez-Trujillo, 27, was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, cruelty to children, terroristic threats and acts and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to arrest reports. Read More»

3 boys, all under age 16, get 20-year sentences for carjacking

Three teenage defendants have pled guilty to robbing a woman at gunpoint in the parking lot of the Kohl’s department store at the Fayette Pavilion March 14.

The pleas accepted last week by Fayette County Superior Court Judge Fletcher Sams were entered by Kevin Jamal Matthews, Quentin L. Hardy and Quintez Deshon Smith. Although the defendants were all under age 16, they were indicted as adults and thus faced the much steeper penalties of Fayette County Superior Court instead of juvenile court. Read More»

12 years each in prison for 2 F’ville Burger King robbers

Two Riverdale men have pled guilty to the May 3 robbery of employees at the Burger King restaurant in Fayetteville.

Kameron Cornell Murray, 21, and Gregory Christopher Young, 20, were sentenced to 12 years in prison last week by Fayette County Superior Court Judge Fletcher Sams.

Both defendants will also be placed on probation for eight years following the prison terms.

Murray and Young each entered a guilty plea to armed robbery, according to Fayette County Assistant District Attorney Warren Sellers. Read More»

F’ville woman faces multiple drug, weapon and burglary charges

A Fayetteville woman was arrested at a Sept. 7 traffic stop and faces multiple charges for burglary and drug and weapons possession.

Sheriff Barry Babb said 35-year-old Ashley K. McElwaney was arrested on Sept. 7 after a traffic stop on Lester Road near the Waterlace subdivision. Read More»

Fugitive squad finds, cuffs PTC molestation suspect after fight

A man wanted by Peachtree City police on child molestation charges was arrested last week by the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force.

Ricardo Luis Sullivan, 27, was found in Austell, Ga. Sept. 4. As agents moved in to make the arrest, he attempted to run away and tried to pull a loaded .410 caliber single-shot pistol from his pocket, officials said. Newnan man, 17, charged with 3 PTC burglaries

A Newnan man has been charged with three Peachtree City residential burglaries that occurred over the summer.

Alan B. Bridges, Jr., 17, was charged with three counts of burglary, according to arrest records.

A July 8 burglary occurred at a Wynnmeade Parkway residence where entry was made after a rock was thrown through a glass door. A computer and jewelry were stolen, according to reports.

A July 26 burglary occurred at a residence on Meadow Court. Reports did not indicate a method of entry or what items were stolen. Read More»
