Cops cuff man for battering woman

A Fayetteville man has been charged with kidnapping, false imprisonment and family violence in a Jan. 5 incident involving his girlfriend after he assaulted her while attempting to prevent her from leaving his home, police said.

Fayette man charged with kidnapping his girlfriend

A Fayette County man has been arrested on charges of kidnapping and aggravated assault after he choked his girlfriend and struck her in the mouth, according to Fayette County Sheriff Barry Babb.

D’Angelo T. Smith, 27, of Bentley Way in north central Fayette County, was charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault, battery and interfering with a 911 call, Babb said. Read More»

A Peachtree City man was sentenced Dec. 12 to five years in prison for robbing three local convenience stores this summer by pretending to wield a weapon underneath his clothes.

Armed robber hits F'ville pharmacy on Christmas Eve

Fayetteville Police are searching for a suspect who robbed the CVS store located at 480 North Glynn Street on Christmas Eve.

Lt. Mike Whitlow said the robbery occurred at approximately 6:45 p.m. when a white male walked into the CVS store, told the clerk he had a gun and demanded money from the cash register.

"The suspect kept his hand in his right pocket indicating he was holding a weapon. The cashier gave the suspect money from the register and the suspect fled on foot," Whitlow said. Read More»

Cash taken from collection box at Gaddy’s Christmas light extravaganza

The drive-through spectacle of Christmas lights at “The Gaddys” home on Sandy Creek Road has lit the holiday fires of thousands of local residents for some 25 years.

But on Dec. 7 a sticky-fingered Grinch briefly invaded the joy of the scene, taking cash from a March of Dimes donation box on the site to collect funds for the organization that battles birth defects.

The Grinch may not have known that the Gaddys lost two of their grandchildren and are committed to helping March of Dimes. He or she may not even care. Read More»
