Newnan offers reward in beating of elderly woman

The Newnan Police Department is asking for the public’s help in finding the person or persons responsible for the beating of an elderly woman.  The Newnan City Council is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case.

On September 21, 2009 the Newnan Police Department began an investigation into the assault of a 90 year old woman. The woman, who lives alone, was assaulted in her home at 121 Pinson Street. She was found by friends on the morning of Sept. 21 who routinely check on her well being. Read More»

Defendant gets life sentence for molestation

A former Union County man will serve two consecutive life sentences following his conviction today for molesting a 15-year-old girl. Atlanta man gets life for heroin, cocaine conviction

An Atlanta man was convicted March 22 for possession of heroin with intent to distribute and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute from an undercover drug sting in December 2008 that was operated by sheriff’s narcotics agents.

Horatio Philmore, of Centennial Olympic Park Drive, was sentenced to life in prison by Fayette County Superior Court Judge Johnnie L. Caldwell Jr. The life sentence was mandated because Philmore was previously convicted on the exact same charges in Fulton County, the court noted. Read More»

Argument leads to arrest at Marnelle

An altercation March 11 at Marnelle Mobile Home Park on Ga. Highway 54 resulted in charges of aggravated assault, interference with a 911 call and criminal trespass for 32-year-old Daniel Keith Stephens.
