Thieves make off with 800 feet of copper wire

Repair crews on Dec. 23 responding to a service disruption alert at a vacant building near the Fayette Pavilion found that thieves had stolen 800 feet of copper wire.

Fayetteville Det. Mike Whitlow said the theft is believed to have occurred on Dec. 18 though it was not reported until Coweta-Fayette EMC crews arrived at the vacant Promenade Parkway building in response to a service disruption alert.

Crews arrived and found the junction box damaged and wires missing, Whitlow said, adding that the fuses had been disabled and eight 100-foot copper wires had been pulled from the lines. Read More»

Brooks man charged with molestation

Brooks man charged with molestation

A Brooks man has been charged with the molestation of two female victims. Investigators also found a large volume of child pornography on his home computer for which charges are pending.

Thomas J. Brandlehner, 57, of 135 Elsberry Lane east of Brooks, was charged with one count of aggravated sexual battery, one count of sexual battery, two counts of child molestation and two counts of enticing a child for indecent purposes, according to Fayette County Sheriff Barry Babb. Read More»

Fayetteville police are asking for the community’s help in locating a man who held up the Dollar General store on Banks Road near Ga. Highway 85 North during the mid-morning hours of Dec. 22.
 
Det. Mike Whitlow said a black male wearing blue jeans and a black hoodie entered the Dollar General store at 10:14 a.m. Monday.

PTC Kroger shoppers see cops chase, tase man

A Riverdale man was arrested on Dec. 14 on charges stemming from his attempt to fill fraudulent prescriptions at the Crosstown Kroger grocery store then fleeing from officers who were called to the scene, police said.

Andrew Menjor, 24, was charged with felony obstruction and felony attempting to obtain dangerous drugs by fraud and is being held in the Fayette County Jail, according to Peachtree City Police reports. Read More»
