PTC's Hampton Inn headed for foreclosure

The ownership group of Peachtree City’s Hampton Inn is being foreclosed on, according to published foreclosure notices.

Sapna Hotel Group Peachtree City LLC is in default on a Sept. 2008 loan of $4.115 million on the property located at 300 Westpark Walk, just off Ga. Highway 74 north, according to the foreclosure notice.

The property is scheduled to be sold the first Tuesday in June to the highest bidder. That could change, however, as banks sometimes postpone or cancel foreclosure auctions depending on a variety of factors involved. Read More»

PTC company goes with solar power

ALTA Refrigeration has completed a 98.7-kilowatt solar photovoltaic system on the roof of its Peachtree City, Ga., facility, the company announced recently. The system is cutting its electrical metered usage in half using high power modules made by Georgia-based Suniva.

The system is one of the largest in the state of Georgia, and the second largest commercial system installed in Peachtree City this year. Read More»

New commercial development proposed for Ruth Drive

A proposed commercial rezoning request will be heard by the Coweta County Commission in a public hearing scheduled for June 15. If approved, the proposal would create a 12,000 square-foot retail and office center on 2.17 acres on Ruth Drive near Thomas Crossroads.

County Director of Planning Robert Tolleson said applicant Allen & Tyler, LLC is proposing that the O-I (Office Institutional) zoned property be rezoned to C-6 (Commercial Minor Shopping District). Read More»

Sany pitches development authority, seeks break on impact fee from PTC

Dennis Drewyer, speaking on behalf of Sany, the Chinese heavy equipment manufacturer coming to Peachtree City, addressed the Development Authority of Peachtree City (DAPC) Monday night. He was hoping they would give a ringing endorsement to the Peachtree City Council to exempt them from 75 percent of the impact fees for Phase I of their construction, which they are hoping to start June 1. Coweta and Newnan show drop in unemployment

Newnan and Coweta County may have turned the corner on escalating unemployment rates. The county jobless rate in March dropped to 10.8 percent, while in Newnan the rate fell to 11.8 percent.

In Coweta, the March unemployment rate dropped to 10.8 percent from the 11.2 percent figure in February. Coweta’s unemployment rate was 8.5 percent a year ago. The lower unemployment rate translates into 6,471 people without jobs in a workforce of 59,737. Read More»

AT&T Wireless customers in east Coweta County should see a boost in their service with the activation last week of a new 3G wireless cell site. The site will provide new coverage for area residents and businesses between Sharpsburg and Peachtree City along Ga. Highway 54 and on Ga.
