A new, deluxe executive suites facility has opened in Peachtree City.

Located at the corner of Ga. Highway 74 and Aberdeen Parkway, in the space temporarily occupied by the Peachtree City Police Department, the Executive Suites at Aberdeen Corners are advertised as being reasonably priced for this down-sizing economy.

Seymour sues Coweta commissioners over Fischer Crossings issue

Perhaps it was only a matter of time. The denial late last month by the Coweta County Commission of a rezoning and road abandonment request by the Fischer Crossings Development Group turned into a lawsuit filed against the county on Oct. 1 in Coweta County Superior Court.

The suit by developer Scott Seymour followed the commission’s 3-2 vote to deny a rezoning proposal that would have placed a Kohl’s department store and other retailers on the northeast corner of the large Fischer Crossing development at Ga. PTC's TDK honored for conservation efforts

One of Peachtree City’s largest companies was honored today by the state of Georgia for its conservation efforts.

TDK Corporation, which is also located in Duluth, was cited for reducing its discharge of toxics into the water system by nearly 6 percent, its hazardous material use by nearly 10 percent, energy consumption by about 10 percent and total water use by 27 percent.

The company also implemented an environmental purchasing program that drives the concept of sustainability into their supply chain, according to a press release from the office of Gov. Sonny Perdue. Read More»

Atlanta Christian College, which has a satellite campus in Peachtree City, has set a new enrollment record, crossing the 1,000-student threshold for the first time in the College’s history, school officials said in a news release today.

Unemployment inches higher in Coweta, Newnan

The word from the “experts” is that the recession is over. But somebody forgot to tell Main Street where, in Coweta County and across Georgia, the unemployment figures released last week by the Georgia Dept. of Labor tell a strikingly different story.

The jobless rate in Coweta rose again last month, with DOL figures showing an unemployment rate of 9.4 percent. That compares to the 9.2 percent rate in July. A year ago the rate was 9.6 percent.
Coweta has a workforce of 58,561. Of those, DOL reports that 5,523 are out of work. Read More»

PTC company to show off solar power system

A Peachtree City company’s new solar power generating system will be on display Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and the public is invited to drop by and learn more about solar power.

The event will be hosted at ALTA Refrigeration located at 403 Dividend Drive in the city’s industrial park. The open house is part of the national Solar Tour campaign in which solar sites all over the country will be open for the public to help spread the word about the benefits of solar power. Read More»
