F’ville to get LongHorn restaurant

A new steakhouse is primed for entry into Fayetteville. LongHorn Steakhouse has submitted plans to construct a restaurant at 1320 Ga. Highway 85 North, the site of the former Johnny Carino’s restaurant just south of the Fayette Pavilion. Fayetteville Planning and Zoning commissioners could approve the proposal at the April 26 meeting. Read More»

New movie theater opens April 22

The grand opening of the new NCG Cinemas at Fischer Crossings is set for this Friday, April 22.

The new NCG Cinemas is located one mile west of Peachtree City off Ga. Highway 54.

NCG Cinemas will provide the premiere movie-going experience with state of the art digital projection and digital sound along with stadium seating in every theater. The NCG Extreme offers a giant 60-foot 3D capable screen and VIP seating. Read More»

Kohl’s site work at Fischer Crossings to begin in May

It will not be long now for work on the new Kohl’s department store at Fischer Crossings to get underway. The initial activity on the site across from the Sam’s Club on Fischer Road and Ga. Highway 34 in east Coweta County is expected to begin on May 1.

Fischer Crossings developer Scott Seymour on April 13 said the project will begin moving dirt on May 1, with initial construction activities expected to begin in mid-June or July. The store is expected to open next spring, Seymour said. Read More»

Large medical office breaks ground at Newnan hospital

It was another sign of the times, at least in terms of development, for business in Coweta County when ground was broken recently for a 125,000 square-foot medical office building on the campus of the new Piedmont Newnan Hospital on Poplar Road near I-85.

The medical office building will be attached by covered walkway to the 136-bed, eight-story replacement hospital under construction by Piedmont Healthcare. Piedmont Medical Plaza is scheduled to open in February 2012, prior to the hospital opening in the spring of 2012. Read More»

Large residential development proposed for NE Coweta

There is a proposal underway that could eventually bring Coweta County its first large residential development since the recession began. The Northgate Preserve on Fischer Road would bring 184 homes on nearly 407 acres with 46 percent open space to the area of Fischer Road, Raymond Hill Road and I-85. Read More»

PTC planners scrutinize idea for Hwy. 74 S. bowling center

The architecture of a proposed bowling alley will be one of the biggest factors in whether Peachtree City’s Planning Commission will recommend a zoning restriction be removed for the property, the developer was told Monday night.

Oasis Bowling Centers wants to build near the AutoZone along Ga. Highway 74 South and Rockaway Road. The building would have 24 lanes to start with, with the potential to expand to 30 lanes at a later date, along with an arcade and a bar and restaurant. Read More»

Bowling alley coming to PTC's 74 South?

Planners to discuss proposal Monday; would require change in zoning restrictions

Is it possible that a bowling alley might become a neighbor to the Autozone on Peachtree City’s southside?

The answer is yes ... and no. Technically, the zoning conditions for the Wilshire Village retail area prohibit a bowling alley as a use.

However, the city is exploring the possibility of lifting that restriction for a proposed “Oasis Bowling Center” to come to Wilshire Village, which is located off Ga. Highway 74 south at Rockaway Road. Read More»

After several years of hearings and meetings the final sticking points for the last, and arguably the most controversial, portion of the massive Fischer Crossings commercial development in east Coweta County was settled April 5 when the Coweta County Commission gave unanimous approval to an agreement between developer Scott Seymour and the Featherston Fishing Club. Senoia hears proposal for elderly care facility

The Senoia City Council April 4 conducted a public hearing and heard the first reading of a rezoning proposal that could lead to the construction of a facility to serve a portion of the city’s elderly population. The proposal by Tranquil Village, LLC involved the rezoning of 7.34 acres on Coweta Street from R-40 (Residential) to IIR (In-town Infill Redevelopment).

If approved by the council it will lead to the construction of the facility by Tranquil Village, LLC on the Coweta Street property recently surplused by the city. Read More»
