Where's the beef? Wendy's approved for Pavilion

A new Wendy’s restaurant has been approved by the Fayetteville Planning and Zoning Commission at the site of the former Wachovia Bank on the northwest corner of Ga. Highway 85 and Pavilion Parkway.

The commission’s approval last week calls for the old Wachovia Bank building to be demolished. In its place will be a 3,000 square-foot restaurant building located across the parking lot from the Home Depot. Read More»

The Sam’s Club at Fischer Crossings held it’s ribbon cutting at 8 a.m. Thursday and opened its doors to shoppers at 8:30 a.m. The retailer is the first to open at the expansive Fischer Crossings retail development permitted for nearly 800,000 square feet of commercial space. Country music artist Randy Houser was a one-man show Thursday morning for the opening of the Sam’s Club at Fischer Crossings. Houser opened the ribbon-cutting ceremony by singing the national anthem and later sang a number of selections for fans. Employees at the new 136,000 square-foot Sam's Club, the company's largest store in the Southeast, were met by long lines of customers when the doors opened for the first time at 8:30 a.m. Sam's Club is the first retailer to open at the Fischer Crossings retail development located at Ga. Highway 34 and Fischer Road in east Coweta County.

Melear’s BBQ closes its doors in F’ville

A long-standing Fayetteville institution has closed its doors, maybe permanently.

Melear’s Barbecue, a fixture in the community for more than 50 years, served its last customers Saturday. Ever since the restaurant’s gravel parking lot has been empty, its famous pig statue has been lonely, and another slice of Fayette history is practically gone with the wind. Read More»

When the state’s newest Sam’s Club opens Thursday morning a mile west of Peachtree City, shoppers will see a line-up of celebrities that include country music artist Randy Houser, fitness expert Denise Austin, Atlanta Falcons linebacker Curtis Lofton and, on Friday, chef and restauranteur Wolfgang Puck.

From banks to burgers at Pavilion

A new Wendy’s restaurant has been proposed for property previously occupied by Wachovia Bank on the northwest corner of Ga. Highway 85 and Pavilion Parkway. The proposal was presented Tuesday at the Fayetteville Planning and Zoning Commission and could be up for a vote as early as next week.

The proposal calls for the old Wachovia Bank building to be demolished, said city senior planner Linwood Robinson. In its place across the parking lot from the Home Depot would be a 2,997 square-foot restaurant building with a drive-thru window and a dumpster pad. Read More»

Fresh Market hiring for PTC location

As it gets closer to opening in the Peachtree Crossings shopping center, The Fresh Market grocery store has announced a career open house event slated for Jan. 26 at Glendalough Manor in Tyrone.

Among the job openings are: assistant produce manager, grocery specialist, assistant deli manager, gift/floral specialist and specialists for cheese, candy/coffee, seafood and others.

Recession or not, the Coweta County Commission is scheduled to hear a proposal in mid-February to rezone nearly 30 acres for a commercial development along the north side of Ga. Highway 34 at Hollz Parkway a short distance to the east of Walt Sanders Memorial Drive.
