Making way for Walgreens on one PTC corner, while . . .

A fixture on the southwest corner of Ga. Highway 54 and Peachtree Parkway for many years, Ruby Tuesday restaurant is being demolished to make way for a Walgreens drugstore three times the size of the eatery. Local resident Mary Giles saw this Feb. 16 and notified Peachtree City Public Information Officer Betsy Tyler, who shot the photo and made it available to The Citizen. Sam's Club gives back at grand opening

The grand opening last week of the Sam’s Club store at Fischer Crossings in east Coweta County came an added benefit for a number of area’s non-profits and agencies. Store manager Darrell Arnold (bottom left) presented checks for $2,500 to the Coweta County 4-H, Coweta Boys & Girls Club, Peachtree City Fire Department, Civil Air Patrol, Community Welcome House, Corral, Coweta Community Food Pantry, Coweta County Fire Department and the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office.

Jobless rate in Coweta, Newnan held steady in December

Unemployment figures in Coweta County and Newnan held steady in December, with Coweta showing a jobless rate of 9.6 percent and Newnan coming in at 11.5 percent.

Jobless figures from the Ga. Dept. of Labor show the unemployment rate for Coweta County at 9.6 percent again in December, having held steady from November. The December figure translates into 5,662 people out of work in a workforce of 58,925.

PTC gourmet grocer Fresh Market to open March 9

The Fresh Market specialty grocery store will open its Peachtree City location Wednesday, March 9 at 9 a.m. at the Peachtree Crossing shopping center, company officials have announced. The first 1,000 customers on opening day will get a reusable shopping bag and a sample-sized bag of the company’s gourmet coffee. Read More»

Tags from 29 counties at new Sam’s Club, 40% Fayette, 39% Coweta

The Sam’s Club store in the new Fischer Crossings commercial center on Ga. Highway 34 in east Coweta County near Peachtree City opened last Thursday to much fanfare and many shoppers. But where did all those shoppers come from?

A survey of vehicles on Thursday morning and again Saturday afternoon showed the crowded parking lot populated with shoppers from 29 Georgia counties. Of those, 40 percent of the vehicles were from Fayette County and 39 percent were from Coweta County, according to an actual count of auto license tags by a reporter for The Citizen. Read More»

Where's the beef? Wendy's approved for Pavilion

A new Wendy’s restaurant has been approved by the Fayetteville Planning and Zoning Commission at the site of the former Wachovia Bank on the northwest corner of Ga. Highway 85 and Pavilion Parkway.

The commission’s approval last week calls for the old Wachovia Bank building to be demolished. In its place will be a 3,000 square-foot restaurant building located across the parking lot from the Home Depot. Read More»

Demolition is near for PTC's Ruby Tuesday to make way for Walgreens

The final site plan for Peachtree City’s new Walgreens pharmacy was approved following Tuesday night’s planning commission meeting. The drugstore will take the place of the Ruby Tuesday restaurant, which was vacated late last month. Read More»

The day finally came. The Sam’s Club at Fischer Crossings held it’s ribbon cutting at 8 a.m. Thursday and opened its doors to shoppers at 8:30 a.m. The retailer is the first to open at the expansive Fischer Crossings retail development permitted for nearly 800,000 square feet of commercial space. The 136,000 square-foot Sam’s Club is located on the northwest corner of Ga. Highway 34 and Fischer Road. Read More»
