Solutions to be unveiled for PTC shopping centers

A variety of solutions to help Peachtree City’s village shopping centers will be presented Tuesday, Oct. 18 from 6:30 to 8:30 at City Hall.

The proposals are the result of a year-long study of the shopping centers undertaken by Georgia Tech, along with Peachtree City founder Joel Cowan, village center owners and members of the City Council, Planning Department, Planning Commission and the Development Authority of Peachtree City. PTC apartments sold for $9M

The Concord Village apartment complex in south Peachtree City has been sold to an Atlanta-based real estate investment and operating firm.

QR Capital bought the 180-unit complex for $9 million in a recent transaction.

The company plans to conduct a renovation including roof work, amenity improvement and cosmetic fixes such as paint touch-up and landscaping, according to Matthew Hunsicker of QR Capital.

QR Capital also plans to re-market the facility to “improve its performance,” Hunsicker said. Read More»

Hoshizaki helps out Fayette Samaritans with annual drive

Hoshizaki America, Inc. donated over 5,000 canned food goods and 16 cases of bottle water to Fayette Samaritans on Friday, September 30. It was the single largest donation the Food Bank has ever received totaling over 4,000 pounds of goods and Hoshizaki’s 2nd annual drive to help Fayette Samaritans.

Goods were collected by Hoshizaki Griffin and Peachtree City facility employees. Hoshizaki’s next activities include a coat drive in December and in May of 2012 host the 2nd annual golf tournament to benefit the Wounded Warriors Project. Read More»

Young Professionals of Fayette County, YP Fayette, sports about 50 members. And some of those active members are on a softball team called Young Guns.

PTC extends ‘pain clinic’ ban

Peachtree City has extended its ban on “pain management clinics” in an effort to buy more time for state legislation to halt the new line of quasi-medical practice, which has in some cases shown to draw drug abusers hooked on prescription narcotics.

When the moratorium was adopted late last year, city officials noted that one such operation started here but shut down prior to the ban. That company set up shop in a local shopping center, and its patients would be given a prescription to be filled at another location owned by the same company instead of a pharmacy, officials said. PTC used oil refinery to expand with merger

An oil re-refining company founded in Peachtree City in 1995 has announced a merger with a similar firm and an expansion of its facility on Dividend Drive in the city’s industrial park.

An Oct. 3 press release by The McPherson Companies (TMC) noted that the firm has merged with Peachtree City-based Universal Environmental Services, LLC, (UES) thus becoming the dominant used oil collector in the Southeast. Read More»

More range for gas-electric golf cart?

Manufacturer to offer dual option ‘hybrid’ model

Peachtree City residents may soon be grateful that the City Council declined a proposal in January that would have banned the use of gas-powered golf carts.

New technology from golf cart manufacturer E-Z-GO is promising to significantly extend the range of electric-powered golf carts by using a “hybrid” system that includes a gas-powered generator.

In addition to the typical electric power plant, the new hybrid golf cart will have a gasoline-powered generator that will charge the cart’s batteries “on the fly,” according to a press release from E-Z-GO. Read More»

Bonnell Aluminum makes big donation to Coweta 3rd graders

Employees of the Newnan’s Bonnell Aluminum company visited all 19 elementary schools in Coweta County this week, personally delivering over 1,600 Merriam-Webster dictionaries to students in every third grade class.

It is the tenth year the Newnan company has sponsored the county-wide donation, which is intended to promote literacy and academic skills among Coweta County elementary students, said school system spokesperson Dean Jackson. Read More»
