Plans by healthcare provider Kaiser Permanente to open a micro-clinic at 101 Banks Station in Fayetteville were approved last week by the Fayetteville Planning and Zoning Commission. The clinic is expected to open near the end of March 2011.

Plans for the 6,420 square-foot building on North Glynn Street call for interior demolition and renovation of the former Blockbuster video rental business two doors south of the Chick-fil-A restaurant. Could it be signs of a strengthening local economy? Unemployment figures released late last week by the Georgia Dept. of Labor (DOL) show that the jobless rate in October fell by three-tenths of a percent in Coweta County and by a half a percentage point in Newnan.

Jobless figures for October showed Coweta’s unemployment rate dropping to 8.7 percent, down from 9 percent in September. Those compared to a September unemployment rate of 10.3 percent.

The rate for October reflects 5,047 people out of work in a workforce of 58,192. Read More»
