F’ville preps for 19% growth spurt

Final vote on annexing 1,186 acres scheduled for Thursday’s council meeting

It has been a while in the making, but a final vote on the annexation and rezoning of nearly 1,200 acres on Fayetteville’s west side is expected at the Thursday meeting of the Fayetteville City Council.

The properties requesting annexation extend along Ga. Highway 54 from east of Sandy Creek Road and to the west to Tyrone Road, and along both sides of Veterans Parkway from Hwy. 54 to Sandy Creek Road.

The entire annexation area includes 1,186 acres, of which approximately 576 acres are requesting PCD (Planned Community District) zoning.

PTC's Westpark Walk to get a facelift

The Westpark Walk retail center at the intersection of Ga. highways 54 and 74 in Peachtree City will soon receive a bit of a facelift that will feature a new stairway tower facing the intersection.

The sign plan approved unanimously July 22 by the city’s Planning Commission will add a stair tower element constructed of brick and aluminum louvers which will face the intersection that will contain a new sign and be a central architectural feature for the two-story building at Westpark Walk. ayetteville is beginning to see a reversal of fortunes and it is not just with the arrival of Pinewood Atlanta Studios. The city through the first six months of 2013 issued nearly 100 permits for single-family home construction. That compares to a total of 38 permits issued in all of 2012 and only 4 permits issued in 2011. Read More»

Pinewood sees need for college, career academy

When Pinewood Atlanta studios opens in January in rural central Fayette County, it will need qualified people to fill an employment gap.
