Konos Academy presents Disney’s Beauty And The Beast

Members of Konos Academy in Fayetteville have been memorizing lines, learning songs, and perfecting choreography as they prepare to perform “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.”

Konos Academy is a homeschool program with students who meet once a week in Fayetteville. Students attend from six south metro counties.

Patrons of the Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater’s summer concert series will soon be receiving their ticket renewal forms in the mail along with an announcement of this year’s acts for the season.

While “The Fun is Back” at the Fred, this season will be difficult for some season ticket holders as the venue shrinks its concerts to one per weekend. Cutting back to one concert per artist is part of a bid to get The Fred making a profit, said Amphitheater Manager Nancy Price. Read More»

NCTC announces auditions for “Death of a Salesman,” Feb. 1 and 2

The American classic, ”Death of a Salesman” by Arthur Miller, is the story of a man in search of the American Dream.

Auditions for the drama will be held on Feb. 1 and 2 at Newnan Community Theatre Company in downtown Newnan. There are roles for eight men, ages 20s to 60s, and five women, ages 20s to 60s. Auditions will begin at 7 p.m. Actors may attend either evening to try out for a role. Those trying out for a role will be asked to do a cold reading from the script. The Newnan Community Theatre Company kicks off the 2010 season tonight with their production of “What The Butler Saw.” Written by Joe Orton, this over-the-top British comedy sets the farcical tone early, when Dr Prentice (played by Trey Stephens) tries to seduce his newest employee, Geraldine (played by Jennifer Sovik). Legacy Theatre presents ‘My Way: A Musical Tribute to Frank Sinatra’

Frank Sinatra entertained audiences for decades with dozens and dozens of hit songs. His presence can still be felt on modern culture as some of the songs he made famous continue to pop up on television, in movies and on the radio around the world.

When Bethany Hayes Smith, the executive producer at the Legacy Theatre, was a part of “My Way: A Musical Tribute to Frank Sinatra” in Kentucky in 2004, it was a crowd pleaser, so it made sense for her and her husband, Mark, the theatre’s artistic director, to bring it to Tyrone. Read More»
