‘The story is complete: I have my sister’

The two only learned of each other in 2009 and first met last December. Devy was one of the thousands of babies stolen by the infamous Georgia Tann during the 1920s through 1950.

“It’s still a bit unreal. I was the only one for so many years and now I have a family.”

Those were the animated words of Germantown, Tennessee resident Pat Wilks, who visited recently with her sister and Peachtree City resident Devy Bruch. The twowere first reunited last year after most of a lifetime of never knowing the other existed. The reason: Devy was one of the many babies stolen by the infamous Georgia Tann, who from the 1920s until 1950 ran the Tennessee Children’s Home Society and a home for unwed mothers. Read More»

Georgia Singers will  present their fall concert  Friday, Dec. 10 at 7:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Peachtree City. Admission is free, and the community is invited to attend and enjoy the wonderful sounds of this remarkable local choir.  Included in the musical selection is a wide variety of styles, both sacred and secular; classical to Broadway; followed by delightful music for the holiday season. Christmas Story Reading and Open House this weekend at Holliday-Dorsey-Fife museum

On Sat Dec. 4, the Holliday-Dorsey-Fife Museum hosts their annual open house (free admission) and will host a special Christmas Story Reading at 11 a.m. This will be a selected story from local author Robert Burch and will last about 15 - 20 minutes.

Throughout that day, visitors can enjoy the Victorian Christmas theme of the house festooned in holiday décor that was typical from 1860 to 1890. The indoor tree will be decorated with hand made ornaments.

A small exhibit of vintage toys is featured and holiday greenery throughout the house all creates a festive experience. Read More»
