Love will be in the air at 'Angels Among Us' dinner dance

According to the on-line encyclopedia Wikipedia, Valentine’s Day is an annual commemoration celebrating love and affection between intimate companions.  It is traditionally a day when lovers express their love for each other.  The organizers of Fayette Youth Protection Homes’ annual fundraiser, the “Angels Among Us” dinner, dance and auction, are hoping that their benefactors will choose Valentine’s Day weekend to show their love and affection for local area foster children. Girl Power — Legacy Theatre brings Off-Broadway hit ‘The Marvelous Wonderettes’

One of the most dynamic periods for women in recent history was between the late 1950s and the late 1960s and the musical, “The Marvelous Wonderettes,” which opens Friday at The Legacy Theatre in Tyrone, explores this era through the story of four friends. The first act is set at the senior prom of Springfield High School in 1958 where the Wonderettes, four girls with big hopes and dreams, perform. The second act takes place 10 years later at their 10 year reunion. Things have changed for the girls, now women, and there are more opportunities available to them now. Read More»

It's a fact: Tymbral to play science fiction convention

Chattacon 36 will take place Jan. 21-23 in Chattanooga, Tenn. and in addition to a wide variety of sci-fi and fantasy authors and artists, Tymbral, a Christian band made up of area residents, will also be in attendance. The connection was made because Ernie Saylor, lead guitarist for Tymbral, is also an antiquarian book collector doing a class on the history of science fiction at the convention.

“I asked them if they needed a band and told the organizers we might be willing to play,” Saylor said. Tymbral submitted a CD of their music and the organizers liked what they heard. Read More»
