Starr’s Mill High School will be well represented at the 75th annual Miss Georgia Pageant this June 18 - 21 in Columbus.

Four young ladies from Starr’s Mill will be competing for scholarship and the right to represent Georgia.

Abigail Feltner, 2014 Miss Starr’s Mill High School, and Emma Wernecke, 2013 Miss Starr’s Mill High School, will both be competing for the title of Miss Georgia Outstanding Teen. Read More»

New theater company staging first show

Georgia Singers, Inc., a non-profit community arts organization, is proud to announce a new musical theater ensemble, The Georgia Singers Company. Rachel Green, Jo Beth Braddy, Annie Hale and D Knudson are the artistic directors and producers of the community theater group for ages 8-18. The students will perform Disney’s “Aladdin, Jr.” at Sam’s Auditorium, 204 Lafayette Ave., Fayetteville June 21 at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Adult tickets are $10 and children under 12 are $5.

This Friday, June 20, Fayetteville Main Street is hosting its first free “Moovie Night” of 2014 at Southern Ground Amphitheater with the mega-hit, “Frozen.” Beginning at 7 p.m., families are encouraged to come out for an evening of fun, music, and movies. Those attending should bring their own chair or blanket. The movie will begin shortly after sundown.

Before the movie, a DJ will play songs for all ages, and kids can meet and dance with the Chick-Fil-A cows. Also, making a special appearance will be Elsa and Kristoff from the featured movie, “Frozen”. Read More»

400 paddlers to visit Newnan June 25

A group of 400 people who will paddle the Chattahoochee River in late June will be making a stop at Chattahoochee Bend State Park in Coweta County and, later that day, will be guests at the Chattahoochee Bend RiverFest on the grounds of the historic courthouse in downtown Newnan.

The paddlers will be participating in this year’s Paddle Georgia event that begins June 21 at Buford and continues along the Chattahoochee River to Franklin on June 27. Read More»
