4th annual Mother’s Day Workshops at Mucklow’s Fine Jewelry

Just in time for Mother’s Day, children are invited to Mucklow’s to make a bracelet or a pendant for Mom out of sterling silver (staff are on hand to assist in the crafting). 
There will also be games, musice and a craft table for making handmade Mother’s Day cards.  This event benefits the Promise Place. The costs are: bracelets $35 and necklaces $25, while the smile on Mom’s face is free. The fees include a $10 donation from each piece to Promise Place.

The workshops will take place Saturdays, Apr. 24 and May 1 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and Sundays, Apr. 25 and May 2 from 12-3 p.m.

'Seussical Jr.' comes to Patriot Hall

The Flat Rock Middle School chorus is proud to present the musical, “Seussical, Jr.” Apr. 21 and 22 at 7 p.m., at Patriot Hall. Southern Crescent Chorale raises $4,200 for Children's Village at Christian City

The Southern Crescent Chorale is happy to announce that the annual Benefit Concert held on Saturday, March 27 raised over $4,200.00 for the Children's Village at Christian City. In addition to a performance by the Southern Crescent Chorale, under the direction of Janice Folsom, the crowd was blessed with the beautiful music of the Woodward Academy choirs under the direction of Stephen Rotz and Suzanne Woodruff. Dogwood Gallery and Framer in Tyrone will open Nature Undisturbed, the second annual juried photography show, this Friday with a reception from 6-9 p.m. First, second and third prizes will be awarded in two categories. Nino Young of Peachtree City was fortunate to be an extra in the just released movie “Letters To God” and is pictured at a pre-release screening event where he gave opening remarks. Based on a true story, it depicts how a boy handles adversity by writing letters to God and his impact on the lives of his family and friends. The movie is produced by the company that brought the inspirational films “Fireproof” and “Facing The Giants” and is now showing in local theatres. McIntosh String Orchestra performs free concert Thursday

The McIntosh String Orchestra Program will present a free Spring Concert, under the direction of James C. Hagberg, on Thursday, Apr. 15, at 7 p.m. in the McIntosh High School auditorium.

Spring Bird Walk at Sams Lake Sanctuary, Apr. 17

Join fellow nature lovers on a fun and informative morning Bird Walk on Saturday, April 17th at Sams Lake Sanctuary in Fayette County.  Brock Hutchins will lead the guided walk at the scenic wetland preserve owned by Southern Conservation Trust.

Hutchins has led many field trips and is the coordinator of the Peachtree City Christmas Bird Count for Audubon.

Sams Lake was donated to the Trust by the Ferrol Sams family in 1995.  The shallow ponds and nesting islands draw many native and migrating bird species, including green and blue heron, egrets and hawks.  Read More»

5K run to benefit recovery programs for women

A 5K run to benefit Wellspring Living will be hosted at The Bridge Community Center in Peachtree City Saturday, April 24 at 9 a.m.

Wellspring Living helps rescue young girls forced into prostitution and also women who have been victimized by childhood trauma.
