Zaphyra to play at Ten East Washington April 25

The Fayette-based vocal band Zaphyra will be returning to Newnan’s favorite restaurant, Ten East Washington, to perform for Sunday Brunch on April 25.  They will be presenting a new program as a preview to the Voices concert, “Mist of Night and Moon,” this September.
 
Zaphyra will be offering a mix of all time favorites like “Vincent (Starry, Starry Night,)” and “Walking in the Air;” more contemporary pieces like “Make You Feel My Love;” musical theater works like “Somewhere” and “Memory;” and classical pieces like “No One Like You” and Rusalka’s “Song to the Moon” by Dvorak. McIntosh grad opens recording studio with bandmate

Scott Carroll, a McIntosh graduate in 2001 and former Peachtree City resident, recently opened Applause Music Productions in Norcross with Adrian Lawrence, his bandmate from the group Asher & Quick. Theater community grieves at passing of longtime supporter

If you were involved in the arts community in Fayette County, you knew Andre De Lorenzo and, chances are, he knew you too. He was active in the arts in Fayette County for 30 years, most recently publishing the Southside ARTS Agenda, a weekly e-magazine, and also serving as executive producer of “The Southern Crescent Arts Round-up,” an hour long television program broadcast over Comcast Cable Television. Southern Crescent Chorale concert raises over $4.000 for Christian City’s Children’s Village

The Southern Crescent Chorale is happy to announce that the annual benefit concert held on Saturday, Mar. 27 raised over $4,200 for the Children’s Village at Christian City. In addition to a performance by the Southern Crescent Chorale, under the direction of Janice Folsom, the crowd was blessed with the beautiful music of the Woodward Academy choirs under the direction of Stephen Rotz and Suzanne Woodruff. This concert marks the Chorale’s sixth benefit concert. Over $20,000 has been raised for children’s organizations in the community through these benefit concerts. Read More»

Cast your vote in 'My Mother is a Gem' contest

Town Square Jewelers on the Square in Fayetteville is pleased to invite everyone to the store to vote for a winner in the “My Mother is a Gem” contest.  Local kindergarten through 5th graders wrote letters explaining why their mother is a gem and deserves to be the recipient of a beautiful amethyst and diamond necklace. The eighteen finalists were chosen and are posted around the store for everyone to read. 4th annual Mother’s Day Workshops at Mucklow’s Fine Jewelry

Just in time for Mother’s Day, children are invited to Mucklow’s to make a bracelet or a pendant for Mom out of sterling silver (staff are on hand to assist in the crafting). 
There will also be games, musice and a craft table for making handmade Mother’s Day cards.  This event benefits the Promise Place. The costs are: bracelets $35 and necklaces $25, while the smile on Mom’s face is free. The fees include a $10 donation from each piece to Promise Place.

The workshops will take place Saturdays, Apr. 24 and May 1 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and Sundays, Apr. 25 and May 2 from 12-3 p.m.
 

'Seussical Jr.' comes to Patriot Hall

The Flat Rock Middle School chorus is proud to present the musical, “Seussical, Jr.” Apr. 21 and 22 at 7 p.m., at Patriot Hall. Dogwood Gallery and Framer in Tyrone will open Nature Undisturbed, the second annual juried photography show, this Friday with a reception from 6-9 p.m. First, second and third prizes will be awarded in two categories.
