The Jazz Era comes to Tyrone

The wait is over! On April 18, the Legacy Theatre, Atlanta’s only full-time professional theatre will present the Tony Award winning musical, “Chicago.”

Boasting a popular score with songs like “And All That Jazz,” “Mr. Cellophane,” “Cell Block Tango” and “Me and My Baby,” the Legacy’s production marks the first time “Chicago” has been seen on a local Atlanta stage in over 10 years.

“We are beyond thrilled for the opportunity to produce ‘Chicago’ at the Legacy,” said executive producer, Bethany Hayes Smith, who also stars as Roxie Hart in this production. Read More»

As spring comes into full bloom, residents are already circling their calendar for two beloved rites of spring.

If you grew up in Newnan during the 80s, you may remember an aspiring young visual artist named Becky Budd. A lot has changed since then.

“What I did back then was mostly drawing,” said Budd, who now performs by the name Courtenay. Budd will headline the April 26 concert, “Friends of Wadsworth Concert -- The Legacy Continues,” sponsored by the Newnan Cultural Arts Commission.

Three sisters and their significant others come home to be with their mother when their father disappears. They soon learn that he has committed suicide.

That was the message March 3 from 22-year-old Steven Porrello as he asked the Coweta County Commission for guidance on how a group of skateboarders might work to establish an outdoor skateboard park in Coweta.
