There are a lot of plays that are based on popular children’s books and several of them are on stage at local theaters this weekend.

Southside Theatre Guild in historic, downtown Fairburn, presents the musical comedy “Seussical” for three weekends, July 21, 22, 23, 24; July 29, 30, 31; August 5, 6, 7.  Join the hilarious misadventures of the Cat (in the Hat) and the adventures of JoJo from the planet of Who, and Horton from the jungle of Nool as they try to keep the Whos alive!  Read More»

Local band to open for Roy Clark

Mike Mullis, a Tyrone resident, has been playing guitar since the age of five. Two of his bandmates in Sons-N-Britches, Daron Meek and Rocky Barnes, have been playing in bands since the age of seven. Their long musical career has seen them tour the southeast as members of the bands Southern Smoke and Kennesaw, opening for such acts as Kenny Chesney, Martina McBride and Travis Tritt. Prior to an appearance on AMC’s “The Walking Dead” last fall and a role in this summer’s raunchy comedy “Bad Teacher,” Adrian Kali Turner had a role in a Hollywood-Bollywood production called “My Name is Khan.” The film was one of the highest grossing Bollywood film outside of India. Turner, in a recent interview, stated the reception to the film and the overall experience was amazing. It certainly prepared him for some of the higher profile gigs that came his way afterwards. See 'Rango' at Fayetteville's Movie Under the Stars this Friday

This Friday, July 15, Xfinity along with Fayetteville Main Street is hosting a free “Movie Under the Stars” at the Villages Amphitheater. Beginning at 7 p.m., families are encouraged to come out for an evening of fun, music, and entertainment on the big screen.

Leading up to the movie, attendees can enjoy the free, family game zone and bubble area. Movie concessions (popcorn, snacks) will also be available for sale throughout the evening.

The winners of last year’s Miss Pride of Fayette County Pageant show off their red, white and blue dresses as they participate in the annual July 4 parade in Peachtree City Monday morning. The event kicked off the city’s festivities which culminated with an early-starting fireworks display over Lake Peachtree.
