Risen Fest to rock Fayetteville May 8

Organizers recently announced the 2010 date for the popular Christian music festival Risen Fest. This second annual, free admission event will take place on May 8, at 7 p.m. at The Villages Amphitheater in Fayetteville.

Bringing more than 1,000 people in 2009, Risen Fest launched its explosive first annual kick-off as a community outreach event to celebrate the church’s five year anniversary. Open Mic Night at 'The Fred'

Local entertainers go head to head competing for the coveted first place win in Open Mic Night at the Fred Amphitheater. Friday, May 7 come out and cheer for your favorite artist as they face a live audience and panel of judges. Winners take home not only bragging rights but the opportunity to perform as an opening act for one of the concerts in the 2010 BMW of South Atlanta Summer Concert Series at the Fred. Cut 'Footloose' at McIntosh this weekend

Zaphyra to play at Ten East Washington April 25

The Fayette-based vocal band Zaphyra will be returning to Newnan’s favorite restaurant, Ten East Washington, to perform for Sunday Brunch on April 25.  They will be presenting a new program as a preview to the Voices concert, “Mist of Night and Moon,” this September.
 
Zaphyra will be offering a mix of all time favorites like “Vincent (Starry, Starry Night,)” and “Walking in the Air;” more contemporary pieces like “Make You Feel My Love;” musical theater works like “Somewhere” and “Memory;” and classical pieces like “No One Like You” and Rusalka’s “Song to the Moon” by Dvorak. Dogwood Gallery and Framer in Tyrone will open Nature Undisturbed, the second annual juried photography show, this Friday with a reception from 6-9 p.m. First, second and third prizes will be awarded in two categories. Nino Young of Peachtree City was fortunate to be an extra in the just released movie “Letters To God” and is pictured at a pre-release screening event where he gave opening remarks. Based on a true story, it depicts how a boy handles adversity by writing letters to God and his impact on the lives of his family and friends. The movie is produced by the company that brought the inspirational films “Fireproof” and “Facing The Giants” and is now showing in local theatres. McIntosh String Orchestra performs free concert Thursday

The McIntosh String Orchestra Program will present a free Spring Concert, under the direction of James C. Hagberg, on Thursday, Apr. 15, at 7 p.m. in the McIntosh High School auditorium.
