Birthday dinner includes Air Force One pilot

The Fayette County Republican Party is planning a birthday celebration dinner to honor the late President Ronald Reagan.

The dinner is Feb. 6 from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. and will feature guest speaker United States Air Force Brigadier General (Ret.) Larry Wright.

Wright piloted Reagan to his inauguration on Jan. 20, 1981 on Air Force One.

Dinner show features interactive crime act

Enjoy a night of mystery and suspense at a Murder Mystery Theater Dinner this Friday.

Join the Clayton State University Campus Events Council (CEC) Friday, Jan. 16, at 6 p.m., in the Student Activities Center Ballroom.

The Murder Mystery Theater Dinner will feature a meal and an interactive "Crime and Punishment" murder mystery where the diners could very well be the stars.

Tyrone set for super sign up day

Fun ranges from legos to line dancing

Tyrone is gearing up for the town’s first “Annual Super Saturday Sign Up” when residents can register for activities ranging from Lego Camp to line dancing.

Spring classes, camps and sports for all ages are available through the town’s recreation department and residents can register on Saturday, Jan. 24, during the super sign up. The event will be held at the Tyrone Recreation Center, 145 Commerce Drive, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“Gone With the Wind” expert and author Jennifer W. Dickey will speak in Newnan this month about the plywood set created as Tara for the movie and the struggle to create a Margaret Mitchell House in Atlanta.

After Hollywood’s Golden Globe awards show on Sunday, it’s time to prepare for Peachtree City’s own red carpet event – the annual Father/Daughter Dance.

Registration is underway for the big event set for Saturday, Feb. 21, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Kedron Fieldhouse and Aquatic Center at 202 Fieldhouse Drive.

Club to hear about threat of Islamic law

David Bores, who is billed as an expert on the Islamic threat in America, will be the guest speaker at the Greater Fayette Republican Women's Club meeting in February.

The topic of Bores' program is “The Threat of Shar'ia Law to the Fundamental Rights of Women and Children in America.” Bores is a retired army officer, was a member of the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office for 16 years, and most recently served as chief of police in Woodstock..
