After lengthy discussions during the past two meetings the Senoia City Council on Monday voted unanimously to begin the process of scheduling public hearings that could lead to the adoption of Coweta County’s Animal Control Ordinance.

The discussion on animal control began Jan. 2 during a discussion of the city’s current ordinance and what constituted a dog kennel. It may be more than nine months away, but Peachtree City officials are reminding citizens of the Nov. 8 election for two seats on the City Council.

The seats which are expiring currently are held by Councilmen Eric Imker (Post 1) and Doug Sturbaum (Post 2). Both seats are for four-year terms.

Sturbaum is finishing his first term on council, and Imker is finishing a partial term, as he was elected to fill the spot of Don Haddix who had to resign his seat to run for mayor. Read More»

One local elected office will be reserved exclusively for attorneys from here on out, if Fayette officials get their wish. The office of Fayette County Magistrate, of which there are four part-time judges here, would require any candidate to have either practiced law for seven years or been a magistrate for seven years. To record a vote against the West Fayetteville Bypass, new Fayette County Commissioners Steve Brown and Allen McCarty voted against the “consent agenda” of housekeeping matters at last week’s regular commission meeting.

The agenda, which generally consists of non-controversial “housekeeping” items, last week included the awarding of annual bids for asphalt acquisition and milling services for various paving and resurfacing projects.
