Tea Party & Tax Day — Tea Partiers hear calls for action

The South Atlanta Tea Party Patriots (SATP) for the past two years held large outdoor rallies. This year “Tax Day” took on a different form. PTC's Rep. Ramsey reviews his immigration bill success

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal has said he will sign the controversial immigration reform bill that was carried through the legislature by Republican Rep. Matt Ramsey of Peachtree City.

The bill was in a bit of tug-and-war before it was ultimately passed by the House and the Senate April 14, the last day of the legislative session.

South Atlanta Tea Party to host “Tax Day” family event Friday evening

The South Atlanta Tea Party (SATP) will host its customary “Tax Day” event in a different format this year. SATP on April 15 will host its first American Liberty Summit at the Fayette Family Church at 1729 Ga. Highway 54 West between Peachtree City and Fayetteville. The free Friday evening program begins at 6:30 p.m. and pre-registration is requested.

Organizers said there will be a variety of speakers to discuss aspects of the core values of the Tea Party, which include limited government, fiscal responsibility, free market systems and the preservation of American heritage. Read More»

Fayette’s road ‘wish list’ compiled, subject to regional sales tax OK

The wish list of future regional transportation projects for Fayette County has been vetted by local government officials and is about to be sent to the Georgia Department of Transportation.

The list represents the county’s request for regional funding through a proposed region-wide 1 percent sales tax that will be voted on in June 2012.

Among the large-scale road projects are the East Fayetteville Bypass, the widening of Ga. Highway 54 east of Fayetteville into Clayton County, and improvements to Tyrone/Palmetto Road. Read More»
