The Fayette County Commission at a special called meeting Dec. 29 voted 4-1 on a resolution that allows for the acquisition of property that will essentially follow the extension of TDK Boulevard for use as an access road to the Lake McIntosh dam.

The vote to acquire the property gives the county the ability to negotiate with Peachtree City and Pathway Communities, the primary property owners, to acquire the 80-foot right-of-way needed for the access road, commissioners said. The Coweta County Commission last week unanimously adopted an ordinance amendment on outside watering that will put the county in compliance with recent changes in state law. Though there are a number of exceptions included, the ordinance requires outside watering to be done between 4 p.m. and 10 a.m.

The ordinance pertains to the passage of Senate Bill 370 that was signed into law on June 1. The law requires that cities, counties and water suppliers incorporate into their ordinances the restrictions on watering outdoor landscaping. Read More»

A preliminary alignment for the third and final phase of the West Fayetteville Bypass was approved by the Fayette County Commission Thursday night.

This will allow the county to seek the services of an engineering company to go into further detail to determine a final recommended path, which will be presented for a vote by the county commission at a later date. Read More»
