PTC prepping for fire station expansion

The Leo A. Daly firm has been authorized to begin architectural and engineering services for the expansion of the Satterthwaite fire station in north Peachtree City.

The construction project will add 2,400 square feet to the station and also involve the renovation of existing space into sleeping quarters, an exercise room and support spaces, according to the city’s agreement with the firm.

Leo A. Daly will receive up to $56,800 including reimbursements for various expenses that will be tabulated “at cost,” according to the firm’s proposal. Read More»

PTC changes name of tourism association

Group now called ‘Convention and Visitors Bureau’

Peachtree City’s Tourism Association is no more.

Instead, the city has put together a group with similar function and a new name: the Peachtree City Convention and Visitor’s Bureau.

The bureau, like the tourism association, will remain a pass through for city hotel motel tax funds to organizations such as the city’s Falcon Field Airport. And it will also continue its mission of attracting visitors to town to help fill up hotel rooms, particularly on weekends when local hotels and conference centers have more vacancies compared to their weekday operations. Tyrone okays preliminary plat for business park

The Tyrone Planning Commission at its Thursday meeting voted 3-0 to approve the preliminary plat for the proposed Quarry View Business Park located on 25.11 acres along Ga. Highway 74 north of Carriage Oaks Drive. The 25 acres is part of a 55.8-acre tract that was rezoned earlier this month.

Project representative Rick Sewell said plans call for 12 lots ranging from 1.25-2.5 acres that would provide space for service type businesses.

PTC annex bid OK'd for new company

The Peachtree City Council Thursday night agreed to explore a potential 77-acre annexation of property on Ga. Highway 74 South to house a new manufacturing facility.

The company, Low Temp, is currently in Jonesboro and manufactures kitchen equipment for use in hospitals, restaurants and schools across the nation, according to Ben Casey, the third generation in his family to work with the company.

Council’s approval allows Low Temp to begin working directly with city staff, which will analyze the proposal and provide a recommendation to City Council. Read More»
