F’ville places moratorium on manufacturing applications

The Fayetteville City Council at a called meeting Sept. 28 voted to place a 90-day moratorium on applications for rezoning and other uses in the city’s manufacturing districts. The moratorium will give city staff time to review the ordinance for any needed changes.

Commenting on the moratorium, city manager Joe Morton in a Sept. 27 memo noted that city staff reviewed several of the allowable uses in the M-1 and M-2 zoning classification subsequent to a recent special exception application for a waste transfer station. Read More»

$400K federal stimulus at work on Hood Avenue

Anyone driving along Hood Avenue in Fayetteville recently has noticed work crews on the south side of the street.

A part of the Connecting Sidewalks Project, the federal stimulus-funded walkways are being installed from Ga. Highway 85 to Landings Drive and along portions of White Road and Ga. Highway 92. Read More»

Sharpsburg looks to annex for commercial/retail development

It’s back. What was a proposal before the Coweta County Commission in November 2009 to establish a residential and commercial development at Ga. Highway 16 and Ga. Highway 54 just south of Sharpsburg made its way back to the commission last week. But with a twist. Though denied by the board last year, the re-scaled development came back to the commission again, but in the form of an annexation request by Sharpsburg to annex the property for the development into the city. Senoia DDA buys old police dept.

It was an offer the Senoia City Council did not want to refuse. The council last week voted 4-1 to take the city’s Downtown Development Authority up on their offer to purchase the old police buildings on Main Street for $27,000. PTC sewer increase to be proposed

At its October 11 meeting, the Peachtree City Water and Sewerage Authority will be discussing a possible rate hike for sewer customers.

WASA General Manager Stephen Hogan said this week that the discussion will include several options and variables, but the system’s revenues have fallen over the past several years. Meanwhile, expenses have kept increasing between 3 and 5 percent each year, outpacing the revenue, Hogan said. Read More»
