Recycling in PTC reaches 20 percent

In the third quarter of last year, Peachtree City residents hit a recycling milestone.

Kedron pools to be repaired

Both of the Kedron pools will be resurfaced in March at a cost expected to remain under $50,000.

The pool will need to be closed for three weeks to accomplish the project, according to Recreation and Special Events Administrator Cajen Rhodes.

The lowest bidder came in around $42,000 but the remainder of the $50,000 approved last week by council will be used as a contingency in case there are minor issues discovered during the process, Rhodes said. WASA honored for anti-grease campaign

To help prevent sewer overflows caused by fats, oils and grease — commonly referred to in the industry as FOG — the Peachtree City Water and Sewer Authority has an educational program to help remind residents to dump such products in the trash instead of flushing them down the pipe and into the sewer system. Fairfield Inn makes pitch for 5-story PTC hotel on Hwy. 74

A proposal to rezone property on Wisdom Road near Ga. Highway 74 for a new 81-room Fairfield Inn hotel in Peachtree City has resurfaced.

In a preliminary vetting by the planning commission Monday night, it was noted that one of the most challenging issues for the 2.8 acre site is that it backs up to the rear of the Wisdom Point retail center, which offers a less than appetizing view but abuts the main entry drive and a courtyard area on the current schematic plan.

Architect Daniel Lemberg said he felt dense evergreen landscaping could help screen that view appropriately. Read More»

World Gym seeks new site in PTC’s Lexington Circle

World Gym owner Dar Thompson wants to close one gym and to build a new facility in the Lexington Circle retail center off Ga. Highway 54 East in Peachtree City.

The 2.28 acre site would be located adjacent to the townhomes on the property and also the Governors Row subdivision. There is a 50-foot city owned greenbelt separating the site from the Governors Row residents.

The two-story building includes the main gym on the first floor with 21,875 sq. ft. and a mezzanine on the second level of 6,783 sq. ft. Read More»

F’ville proposes annexing new Panera Bread site

Fayetteville is on track to welcome yet another restaurant near the Fayette Pavilion.

The recent news that a portion of Fayette County just north of Fayetteville could become home to a major film and television production facility begs a question about a seemingly minor, yet pertinent facet of such a development: sewer services.

An unofficial poll of the Fayetteville City Council on Feb. 7 showed a possible annexation of the property could be considered, if requested, but the idea of the city running sewer lines without accompanying annexation would be more problematic. Read More»
